I'm coming to LA for business next week but am also 2 weeks out from a half marathon. Any recs for safe places to run 5 miles as well as 8-10miles near DTLA? Thank you!!!

Amazed at all these people telling you to drive from dtla to the beach for multiple runs. If I were you I’d do the LA river trail, Elysian park, silver lake reservoir, or the east/northeast side of Griffith park since it’s the flattest portion

SOA1 - this is clutch. Thank you!

Please don’t do this outside in DTLA. Go to Runyon

Silver Lake Reservoir is a good suggestion - second that. If you have to stay in the general downtown area, the Arts District is much nicer than actual downtown.

Not exactly near DTLA, but the strand that runs from Redondo Beach to Santa Monica will give you plenty of miles while being safe.

Runyon Canyon is about 3.5 miles and can be steep if you don’t mind that. Griffith Park has far more trails to choose from that range from east to difficult. You can also run along Crystal Springs Road which is flat and runs inside the park. A lot of runners run along this road.

Lake Hollywood is a 3.5 mile loop up in the hills above Hollywood. It’s right off the 101 if you’re heading north from downtown.

I run there often and it’s safe. Usually it’s super crowded up there on the weekends, but any time during a normal weekday, it’s not bad at all.

I honestly don't mind crowded, that feels safer anyways. Thanks for the rec!

You should just take a quick uber/drive to Silver Lake, from there you have accessibility to the reservoir (2-3 mile loop, really nice), Griffith Park, Elysian Park, etc.

These really are the best options close to dtla. Griffith is the farthest but has the most options. A lot of trails are very steep. Elysian has a great 2.3 mi loop that is hilly but a great trail run. If you don’t want a park run, and don’t mind concrete/asphalt, the reservoir is a great option. I’ve ran in all three alone and felt safe.

Rosebowl even tho its a bit of a drive

I live in DTLA and trained for a half, i mostly went to elysian park near dodger stadium

Los Angeles State Historic Park. Really great views of DTLA and spacious with walking/running trails. It’s in china town, very close to DTLA.
