Thanks guys. I’d like to retract the word “completely” because I’m still meeting all my deadlines. I mean this more as I’m not staying late, I’m not letting Type A personalities/bullies wear on me, I’m not taking on more work than I need to etc. I’m taking lunch breaks and actually leaving the building. When I worked my ass off and overdelivered, I was told I deserved a raise 2x and it never happened. This is my new normal for my sanity. Thanks for the input though, I won’t screw anyone over, but my mental health and what I know I deserve needs to count.
Listen, I feel you. And I understand where you are coming from. But know that that behavior will have an impact on your peers. Things you don’t do someone else has to. Again, do what you want, but your being checked out hurts other people who deserve your best. Hope you find happiness soon.
Checking out is fine. It’s for your health and sanity. I also took time off (yay unlimited pto) and felt not a stitch of guilt. The fact that agencies are understaffed is it your problem to solve. And being the good egg who always pitches in for “the team” gets you nowhere.
Completely understand, and I wouldnt blame any "integrated" anything for doing the same. If your place is like 100% of the places Ive worked, you get the shit end of the stick every time.
However.... I agree with @GSP (and have learned this lesson myself by looking like an ass)--remember there are people who actually care about this stuff. You might think it's stupid (I kind of do)...but there really are. You dont have to match their enthusiasm--just make sure you dont screw them over. It is...literally...your job.
AND, it would be cool if you didnt run the work down in front of them either. Really, in front of anyone. But I understand venting. Good luck. I too wish you happiness, and if not happiness, disintegration.
OP, if that’s checking out, I think we all should.
@VP1, thank you- yes!
SC1 Haha I know right? But in our industry you know it’s not the norm
