I'm confused: we are supposed to make learning relevant and engaging for students, yet I keep getting reprimanded for including current events in the classroom. The kids are loving it and are really engaged in great debate and discussion. What's the problem?

Dropping this in a few bowls, sorry if you see it twice. I'm transitioning from teaching 8th grade mathematics at a public school to teaching a 7/8 self-contained classroom at a charter school. Any advice for teaching mixed grade levels or multi subject is appreciated: scheduling, classroom setup, subject order, behavior management, etc. I'm struggling to find my rhythm with only 6 weeks before kids return. Our district voted on returning back to school with students in the classroom and some staying at home. We now have to teach students in the room and on Zoom at the same time. I’m not complaining but does anyone have any tips on the best and most effective way to get this done?

I am a middle school social studies teacher and my husband is a high school art teacher. He has been an art teacher for a very long time and he’s not super proficient with Google classroom but I am. I have been helping him with lesson online resources & creating hyper docs for the lessons. He is struggling with the students not having a lot of supplies at home and how to have them create multiple day art pieces.  he teaches at a low income area, how is everyone handling supplies to students? 

Has anyone tried using a QR code for classroom sign out? Has it worked for you or just become a pain?

Are you required to come into your building? I'm teaching vitrtually, but 2 days a week I'm required to come into my classroom.

Hey Coaches! I’m Alyssa, and I’m one of the Community Leaders here at Fishbowl. I’ve been in the classroom for 10 years and a classroom coach for 6 (mainly elementary/Pre-K). Excited to be here!

This school year has been very challenging to me. I’m a instructional aide,one-on-one, in a general education classroom. Teacher has never really made conversation with me, sometimes I force a ‘good morning ‘ from her. Her silence around me just makes me uncomfortable and not welcomed in her classroom. She has made comments towards my student, saying that he doesn’t need an aide, or that students don’t need ‘babysitter’s at school’. Has any aide experience this in classroom?

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!
