Hey Googlers, I’m going in for my GCP TAM second round on Monday and had a few QQs for you all:
1. For the RRK2 case study if there is a scenario for handling peak time workloads where the client did a lift & shift of a monolithic architecture, is the best suggestion to move them to micro services to enable serverless and auto scaling features?
2. I was told that they’ll give me 15 mins to prep after the case study is shared live, would you suggest I build a 1 pager or is that not required?Google
Bain & Company Can any Bain & Company fish provide insight on Bain's expense policy? When WFH, at client site (outside of based city) and when working with local client...
It would also be helpful to provide insight on travel policy - first class in which flights, always 5-star hotels? Etc.
Thank you!

I have had friends that went to go client side for tech gigs out there.
As for Phoenix as a place to be, they all seem to be good with it as a place they can buy a home and enjoy a work/life balance. All have said that it is a considerably slower pace of life.
As for Phoenix as a place to work, if you’re there, be prepared to put in years at where you work as the industry is small and they like to keep Phoenix talent in Phoenix (editors, directors, etc).
I made the move from LA a little over a year ago. Cost of living, traffic, access to nature, and just space overall are major benefits for me! PHX is also hotbed for tech and other growth markets. I miss the beach, but can to LA or SD in 45min flight, or 4-6hr drive (depending). PHX is also one of fastest growing cities, if not number 1...most of that is people from SoCal. All that being said, it’s HOT! This is hottest summer on record, with most of the summer being over 100deg. So there’s that! But the rest of the year is relatively on par w/ SoCal, and mountains & lakes are a short drive if you need to cool off. Oh yeah...scorpions and snakes are a thing too. For me, the pros outweigh the cons...and I’m happy with the move. If I have meetings in SoCal, easy enough to pop in and back. Good luck!

Following this post as my fiancé is being transferred to Scottsdale and I will be in the market for a new role out there as a result! We’re relocating from NYC after ten years so definitely nervous/excited about a change of pace.

Awesome thank you! I’ll send a note now!
I live in Phoenix and hate it. Sorry to be negative but it’s not for me. Plenty of other people seem to like it, though (it’s surpassed Philly to be the 5th largest city), so maybe it’s just me...

Thank you for taking the time to share! This is all really helpful context as I prep my move. I’m sorry you’re not having a great experience and I wish you luck.
It’s so much better than it used to be. It was absolutely culture-less but look into Local First. The woman who runs it is a powerhouse who has singlehandedly changed the city. Light rail was all her. The arts scene downtown is flourishing and first Fridays are quite an experience. I lived there for school in the 90s and couldn’t wait to leave. The comments about people being flat was certainly the case while I was there but I found my people, they’re out there.
