I'm considering an AGC position at a
small but growing startup. The
company is based in NY but
everyone is working remotely. I
would be 1 of 2 attorneys. Any
thoughts on what I might expect as a
comp offer and what's fair? I've been
in-house in a Director level position
for 2 years, and I have 7 total years
of experience as an attorney, mostly
doing litigation prior to moving in-
house. I'm hoping for a decent salary
boost but not sure what's
reasonable for small startups
(approx. 100 employees)

Need more info - are you located in a major metro area (you mentioned where startup is, not where you are). What type of AGC? Product, commercial, privacy, regulatory, corporate , jack of all trades? What level is the other attorney? Who will you report to?

What funding stage us startup at? B? C?

Check out Tech GC survey, Lawyer Whisperer blog and goinhouse.com.

Look on crunchbase to find their funding status.

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. Instead of leaving, I’d love to go back to my “consulting roots” and join the ProServ team. I’m taking my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam next weekend. Hoping this freeze is lifted soon.

I worked as a technical PM for a medium-sized adtech company in NYC in charge of 2 technical teams, and the business intelligence team.

On Thursday I was informed by the lead PO and HR that leadership had decided that the project management office was no longer necessary for the company and all three of us, the director and the two technical PMs, were being let go. None of us were given any notice.

They offered me 2 weeks of severance pay and I negotiated it to 3.

So I had a call with a with a recruiter two weeks ago and she asked for my salary range and I told her $120k-$150k she said she would submit me me at $140-$150 well the role was put on hold due to an acquisition. She has referred me for another role and we had the preliminary discussion but salary wasn’t mentioned should I assume that it’s the same salary range or should I inquire and is so how should I frame my inquiry?

Is anyone struggling to find a job after layoffs? I’ve been unemployed for three months now and it has taken a toll on me. I submitted close to 300 applications to become a PM. Unfortunately, entry-level PM roles are rare and most companies want 5+ YOE at this time and so I was rejected for about half of them. Been interviewing every week the past few months and got very close to 10 companies but all fell through due to hiring freezes. Any tips on what I should do? YOE: 1.5

I have an opportunity to take a Senior role at a firm just smaller than Big 4 from a regional firm. This will be my 3rd job change in 6 years. So changing firms roughly every 2 years. The thing is… I am consistently getting huge pay increases. First change I went up 17%, the second was 30% if you just look at base or 16% if you include annual bonus. I am yet again looking at a 12% increase. But fear staying a Senior forever if this keeps up, what are thoughts on job hopping like this?
