Additional Posts in Law Exit Opportunities
Looking for some great (former) BigLaw transactional lawyers to work with my company Praktio (www.praktio.com) to develop new practical training for associates. Here's the LinkedIn job posting: www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/2636937239/.
Initially contemplating these relationships as contractor/project-based, but hoping some will evolve into FTE. And open to starting off that way for the right opportunity.
I would love to move out of law into an associate role at a PE shop. It just seems like a better path to wealth and what I want to do. The path seems very elusive, but I know it’s possible because far too many of the principles my PE clients were lawyers. How can I leverage my significant M&A experience to be competitive against a traditional candidate with IB experience?
I have friends who made this jump early on in their legal career (they did CFA level 2 to stand out). It seems as a mid level M&A lawyer, you’ll be looking at a massive paycut. Not to mention the competition against other candidates with solid IB experience in financial modeling.
They did CFA 2 and jumped into the finance side or as in house?
It depends. Some of the PE shops are cut throat, some of them prioritize what you are looking for, but it’s going to be the same rat race/if not more, kinda like being in a law firm that works exclusively on contingency and you have no say over whether or not you win..
I am also interested in this path. What is the best way to seek out opportunities? Through a recruiter, and if so a recruiter in what field? Finance?
In retrospect I may have posted this to the wrong bowl. This is more a law firm exit question than a law exit question. The PE fund opportunity is to be an in house lawyer at the fund with a corporate/m&a focus.
Ditto. I’m currently trying to transition into a PE in house role or exit into PE and it seems to be all about who you know.
