I’m considering applying for an AUSA position and the application instructions say that a resume is required but a cover letter is optional. What’s the best practice in this situation, submit a cover letter or let my resume speak for itself? I don’t want to make it appear like I am not interested for not including a cover letter, but I also feel like a lot of times cover letters don’t add much.

Send a cover letter. As a former AUSA it helps set you apart because they get MANY inquires.

like

Fill out the USAJobs resume template. If you feel like something is missing after that write a cover letter. The USAJobs resume template will get you through the initial sorting. Make sure to include words from the job posting.

Send a cover letter but don’t do cookie cutter BS. Add a very subtle joke or a small reference to something weird in your resume, like the fact that you studied in X country or have the most popular dog at the dog park. They add more than you think.

Caveat: if you’re extremely uncomfortable with this, you’ll probably do it wrong so don’t bother. But it’s an opportunity to show them you’re a human who they might like to work with.

Does anyone have knowledge of the financial crimes practice in KPMG? I am interviewing for a position to move there from a current forensics position. The KPMG recruiter explained that its an extremely small practice and I wouldn't be doing a lot of the "grunt" work any more like clearing alerts in AML etc. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what this practice really does? Online info is not that descriptive. Also, is the 80-100 percent travel really true or is a bit less?

Hi ! Looking for advice. I’ve been with a company in BC for 2.5 years, started support role, promoted to smb AE a year ago. salary is 65k with uncapped commission. We recently did layoffs, I was kept however there have been changes & meeting quota has become difficult & we have a way heavier workload. The perks are amazing but I need to make more money. Do you think I could get a role with more money with my experience that’s fully remote even in this “recession”..thoughts?

So I’m late to the Indian Matchmaking series. Is it the guy who has to be wealthy and the women who need to come from wealth? There doesn’t seem to be a lot of emphasis on what the women do for a living, but the men all seem either well-off or getting called losers. Is that what people look for in real life too? So there’s no place for women on the come up to be with someone above their own social class?
