I’m considering applying to a graduate program in europe (MBA or masters on health economics/policy/management). Are there any top programs that would be transferable for someone who wants to continue working in US healthcare on the payer/provider side (ie, not life sciences)?

I would think finding a HC focused program in the US would be way more beneficial if your goal is to work in the US. Programs overseas may not cover the US system in depth (I could be wrong, just my hunch), so I’d turn your search to programs in the US if feasible.

Agree with above. Oxbridge will work well for this. Purely MBA focused there are few brands that have significant brand recognition in the US: Insead, LSE, HEC, IESE, IE, Oxford Said. But since careers department and networking is so important none of the European schools will give you a great setup for the US

I mean a top tier MBA from Oxbridge will take you far. INSEAD will also do well.

INSEAD for MBA and LSE for health Econ

like

INSEAD is top notch and well respected in the US

I did the LSE MSc in International Health Policy and it gave a good overview of payer landscape internationally. Touched on some US specific payer models but gave a good general framework - could be one to look into

Personally, I think the work placement opportunity was a huge sell for me. I did mine at a life sciences company, so then it became easier to fall into that work when I joined Accenture. I don’t regret not choosing a program in the US, but I must also caveat by saying I have stayed in the UK and also been working in the life sciences for the past 2 couple of years, so it is a bit of a different situation to the one you’re in. You do learn more about health economic evaluations, which is not as prevalent of an evaluation methodology used in the US as say value-based pricing or other payer models. But I did really enjoy the program and found it expanded the way I thought about healthcare overall.

Interested in your opinions. Last year I took a government job. Before I was working as an independent consultant and netting more - obviously without pension and benefits though. (Lost work due to pandemic.) With extra medical expenses this year (outside of government insurance) I realize I’m simply not making enough money to do what I want and need to to (medical + travel + investing). Everyone tells me to stay for security and WLB.

My partner and I want to get married and are having difficulty deciding how much we want to budget for the engagement ring, wedding, etc. Right now most of our wealth is tied up in 401k and RSUs. (Combined have 27k cash + 80k in 401k + 55k in unvested RSUs- will vest over 4 years, and 150k of student debt)
Obviously I don’t want to use all of our savings on the wedding but we also want to enjoy it since we know we have more stocks/income in the pipeline. Any advice on this?
