A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group

I did know a few big 4 auditors who got into Top 10 programs. I think as long as you can demonstrate your potentials and make sure your story make sense (ie why you could be a good leader, why you want to move to management consulting, and why mba would help you), it should be ok
So I think what you could think is where you think you will shine more, where you would have more opportunities to be a leader, what work would be more interesting as you will be on that position for at least a couple years
As someone in TAS, I can tell you all the TAS alum who i have seen leave for MBA went to T-15 schools. Speaking to friends in B4 Audit, it was much rarer for them to end up in T-15 schools. From what I’ve seen on LinkedIn, you wouldn’t kill your chances, it would just be harder unless you went to a FAANG caliber company as a Sr Accountant
Also just googled (the irony) the salary of Apple senior accountants and it seems lower than the Fortune 500 company I was considering. Is that because of the brand name? (The Fortune 500 company is in the top 25 too idk)
MBA is a waste of time and money- get the experience at the Fortune 500 co
This is the conclusion, based looking at the numbers. However, the MBA could give you things that aren't reflected in the numbers. The MBA can change someone's life, based on the new perspectives/experiences. Everyone will have different priorities, but I think it's important to not discount the non-money benefits that come with an MBA.
I hear big 4 audit isn’t impressive to M7 admissions so I’m can i assume that a corporate accountant position is even less so? Or about on par
No idea, but why M7 MBA?
I wanna do management consulting eventually.
What’s your plan exactly? Do you want to work in high finance or management consulting?
True. I should have went to dental school. Lol
Hmm, all these comments are worrying me. I’m interested in going for an M7 MBA down the road but didn’t think admissions cared so much about prestigious brand name firms on the CV. Am I screwed if I stay in tax (work in hedge fund/PE tax) or do I need to pivot to another industry to even get a chance of admittance? TIA
I wouldn't worry about it too much, as there are people online that were in audit/tax that get into top programs. Just focus on making on your story and your impact (both inside and outside of work). Anything is possible, especially once you realize that people in similar positions have gone M7 (and even some to HSW).
So why wouldn’t you transfer to the advisory arm of KPMG?
Because I’m another year and a half out at best from making that switch and 2.5 years out at worst + factor in 1-2 years of exp in the advising arm before I can leave for an MBA or switch to a management consulting position... All while making 60-70k a year where as if I leave now the work life balance is a bit better and I can make 90k ish a year
No offense, but it’s really hard to get into an M7 program and KPMG isn’t going to be the first pick of experience if they’re choosing any auditors at all from a Big 4.
Lol. Alright get off your high horse. I know there’s an elitism among big four but in audit and reality it’s all the same thing. It depends on your clients and experience along with office and location
