I’m considering new job opportunities in NYC. For those who have lived in NYC, how was it living with a medium/large sized dog? Do you have any tips?

I have and loved it. You’ll find some neighborhoods are much more dog friendly than others, but in general I’ve had no issues. Biggest impact will be finding an apartment. Lots of no pet buildings in general but definitely some neighborhoods that have a lot more pet-friendly options, especially in Brooklyn. Make sure any building you’re looking at doesn’t have dog weight/size restrictions. Depending on how active you and the dog are, living near a park or dog run is really great. NYC parks have off leash hours early in the AM. Tons of amazing dog walkers and daycares around, and walking my dog is always a great way to meet neighbors.

Do you all recommend having a car or not? My dog isn’t one you can carry or have in a carrier.

A car can def be expensive but after several years without one, we just got one and it’s life changing especially during covid. That said, you need to be mindful of the hassle that comes with street parking, or you can buy a parking spot but it’s several hundred a month. We do street parking and just factor in the occasional parking ticket or overnight garage needed when we can’t find a spot. Neighborhood will also impact parking options.

The value also depends on how frequently you’ll want to travel to outside the city or bring your dog places within the city. Most neighborhoods have several vets within walking distance so it depends where else you’d want to travel w the dog.

Tons of people in nyc have been dogs. You just need to be committed to exercise. A ton of kt.

I had crazy burnout inducing weeks and I am now on a slower pace finally for the second week this year (~20 billable hours wk). Not sure how well I performed in those weeks prior but deals closed and nothing went wrong at the end. Now I think about what’s lacking in my life (partner, joy, expertise in my field haha) and I just don’t want to work or care to work anymore. Anybody in a similar boat? How did you get out of this?

Hi All, I have found 3 stray pups dripping in rain and adopted them. I took care of them since past 3 weeks. The breed is Indian mongrel (street dogs). Most people suggest that there is no need to get the dog vaccinated or give it food like pedegree. What do you suggest?

How to tell if you’re a dog person:
Upon encountering any dog, a true “dog person” will act like they have heard about these things called “dogs” but this is the first time they’ve actually seen one in the flesh.
And then they will want to adopt it.
