I’m contemplating and researching a SaaS product for SMBs. How do I go about researching the sales cycle period aside from asking the customers? Do SMBs have the shortest SaaS sales cycle?

SMBs sales cycle is definitely the shortest because they're usually looking for the fastest time-to-customer value benefits.

Sales cycle length is fairly well correlated to ACV. See, e.g., https://blog.close.com/5-tips-for-selling-saas/

It's not a hard and fast rule but if you see a sales cycle being too long for a low ACV product, it's obviously not going to be sustainable. If you're finding the opposite... Then holler at me and let's make some money together 😂

Hi, I have a job opportunity question. I was laid off last month. I was offered a temp role with an established company that may go permanent in January. This role is scheduled to start Monday. I had a former colleague refer me to this role.
I also just received a full time opportunity at a start up that would not be temp. I would be designing my own department and strategy, which is excited, but with the economy, I am not sure what to do. And I already said I would start with company 1.

Hi 👋 Nice to have this bowl here! I’m a CPA with 5 years experience in tax who recently realized that I can’t stand doing compliance anymore. Are others seeing their work slow down? It’s been a pretty dramatic halt for me. I thought maybe it was a me problem, but others in my group admitted they are also slow. I’ve been consistently 110-120% utilized, but I’ve only billed 22 hours this month. I’m in fund formation.

Thoughts on leaving a commercial AE role from Salesforce to a smaller company (Snowflake/MongoDB/Databricks etc). I have consistently been 150%+ of OTE at SFDC but know for a fact my comp is way under the market. Would be moving into an EAE role and almost doubling base and OTE. Seems like a no brainer but at the same time too good to be true? Has anyone out there made the move and can provide feedback?

Curious for all the VP Sales types - what is a healthy average attainment for your team? Ours is hovering around 55% to plan for Q1 and as a rep, I'm feeling discouraged since our comp plan has decelerators built in (ie. 55% to plan only gets you ~25% of your OTE commission).

Am I aiming too high? I was an sr. account executive/broker in the financial field for the past 15 years. I focused on both retail and B2B for clients. We also sold our trading platform to clients (saas) as well. I’ve been applying to enterprise account exec. positions at software companies and getting interviews. However, they are rarely progressing into the later rounds. Should I be applying to mid-market or lower to break into the tech space? Any input is appreciated!

Been in Telecom sales for about 4 years. Recently laid off. The plan originally was to break into SAAS AI/ML as either an AE or SDR. I had an interview for an Enterprise AE role and towards the end the HM said, “I think you’d be a great fit. I want you to move forward here, but I’m not sure if you’re b2b or Enterprise” At my last gig, this happened and they sold me on the less senior role by saying “it’s essentially the same role”(which obv, isn’t true; it just pays less). I just had a conversation with a CEO at a startup I admire, and the topic turned to sales hires. My jaw dropped at the comp numbers and I also really love the product, their selling philosophy (buyer centric, empathetic ; less volume based), and I feel like the CEO is an extremely empathetic bit straight forward person.

I'm considering throwing my hat in the ring for consideration, at the same time I've got a sales motion going on - any tips?
