Honestly, mainly because most the experience with Slalom most folks have is staff-aug and far from consulting. I’m not sure I see the difference from Robert Half to Slalom. Naturally, we are jealous 🤷🏻♂️
Right, but we have 27 markets.. your experience with 4 employees can’t possibly speak for the company overall, right? Can you safely say EY has never once had employees in a staff aug role across the country? All I’m trying to say is - staff aug exists everywhere to some degree. It’s not just Slalom, and while *some* Slalom offices may be disproportionality higher, with 27 markets there are plenty who don’t do staff aug regularly, and therefore it’s an unfair characterization of the company as a whole
No other firm has as many core values as we do. Other firms are always trying to make off with 3 or 4
You get a lunch? Must be part of your local market benefits. (joking, for reference)
Must be tough, my market has a ton of those kids
Woah. Shots fired EY1. I wouldn’t compare us to Robert Half. They are actually a staffing firm. We’re a consulting firm that actually does consulting. I’ll admit, our local model does have a certain percentage of staff aug work, but it’s sort of a necessary evil to please our larger clients. They sign big deals with us, and then they ask us for a “program manager” or something like that. Hard not to bite the hand that feeds you.
I agree that there has been a fair amount of negativity on here lately. I’m a part of that. I think we all are. There’s been a real uproar at slalom lately about pay equity as well as maternity / paternity / family leave benefits.
All that aside, this is a pretty great place to work, and the WLB is legit. I’ve never worked more than 42 hours in a given week, and I’ve been here for 4+ years
No shots fired. :) we have our issues. Lol
No idea but a couple of my friends just started there after leaving PwC. Do you guys do a lot of staff aug work? Can’t say I’m too familiar with the firm aside from their regional staffing model
Hmm I don't want to speak for that market but from my understanding and what I've seen. Possibly some staff aug. I'd recommend expressing discontent with that kind of work loud and clear during the interview process. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with staff aug myself.
My understanding (limited) is that it’s because a lot of the consultants who felt burned from out or straight burned by D looking for better “work life balance” fled to Slalom. Steady stream starting in 2017 to my knowledge. Rightly or wrongly, it’s created the perception in some circles that it’s for Consultants who didn’t want to or couldn’t hack it. I’m not validating that view, just sharing what I’ve heard.
