I love what I do and I have an offer to stay in International Development and be a manager with 86k, focusing on my technical area + lots of travel. I am increasingly hearing that BCG (and sometimes even McKinsey) is competing with Deloitte for some fed work, and not just high level strategy work, which is somewhat contrary to the conventional wisdom here.

Can anyone speak to the relative merits/strengths of each? What domains does BCG play in? Is BCG WLB much worse than D (I have seen reviews saying WLB is terrible at BCG while D GPS is pretty good, esp for A-Sc levels).
