I’m starting to search for a new position and I see a lot of really granular roles: PM Notifications, PM, Site Navigation, etc. At my current company, I’m involved with almost the entire product and I directly own 2 current features top to bottom with multiple others in the research and design phases. I can’t imagine these being full-time positions. Can anyone with a role like this comment on what your day-to-day is like?
Anyone work as a QAPI nurse or in QA? I am looking at a position and would like talk to someone who has done it

I see all these flashy TikTok videos where people with no experience got Project Manager positions and make six figures just to eat, shop, and have 2 meetings a day. I know there has to be way more to such an interesting position. Can any of you give me any insight into what a PM's day-to-day is like a Google?
Working on applications for academic positions (tenure-track), and finding it extremely difficult to write a research statement that is not too close to my current research that hiring faculty would think I lack originality, but also not too far-fetched/unrealistic or on topics that I find interesting but has insufficient knowledge/expertise.

Hi! I have my firm photograph session coming up, and I am considering having my makeup professionally done for it. Does anyone have a makeup artist recommendation in Manhattan for this type of thing (ideally midtown but I’m flexible). Thanks!
Hello ladies! Anyone have recommendations for nice work cardigans (that are not super casual or too pricey)? Please and thank you!!!
What are some important/reasonable questions to ask of future colleagues before accepting a pending job offer?
There is a partner in our office that routinely discusses associate performance with other associates. For example, she will tell Associate A that Associate B isn’t performing and/or hitting hours, etc. Recently, I learned that she has been discussing “issues” she had with my work product two years ago (I no longer do any work for her). Is this something I should bring up? It bothers me that she is talking about me to others.
Here's a question, and it's not just related to my work: My Ph.D. is in Leadership, I am repeatedly asked not to be a leader, where can I get coursework in how not to be a leader??
Hi ladies. I’m 11 weeks pregnant and have been suffering from morning sickness all day every day for the last 5 weeks. It’s been extremely difficult staying on top of everything at work (I’m in a very busy practice group at Kirkland) and am wondering if anyone has gone through this and if anything helped. I’ve tried all of the conventional methods (eating small meals, vitamin B6, ginger etc) but nothing has worked 🥺.
I supervise a team of 15-20 attorneys. Most of them have more years of experience than me (mid-aughts grad). I have 4 new hires who are about 2 months in that call/email/message me about everything and do not make an effort to find answers for themselves even though we have many resources available. I am trying to be patient because they are new to the team (not to the profession) but I do have my own workload and others to supervise. How can I politely suggest they try to be self sufficient?
What type of products are most effective for getting rid of hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone?
Hubby: What's wrong? You're grumpy.
Me: *senior associate who also handled daycare drop off and pick up today, and gymnastics class while my husband napped from 4pm to 530pm* Nothing is wrong. I'm just tired.
Hubby: FROM WHAT?!
Thoughts and prayers for my husband please.
Just realized a firm partner has a pattern of treating female employees poorly. Except for the associate who brings in the big money, of course. But it's a trend, and the only reason he doesn't take it as far with me as he does with others is because I do EVERYTHING and he is screwed if I just up and leave. If you've experienced this, how did you deal with it? And yes I am trying to leave, the job market here is a little tough right now.
I want to improve my networking in the next year. My practice area (Corporate Litigation) relies mostly on referrals from other practitioners. That has been challenging for me as a somewhat quirky woman. Has anyone found a good resource for upping your game in this area?
When should you disclose your pregnancy to your practice group while wfh? No belly to hide from coworkers but the fatigue and morning sickness are catching up to me. Managing it, but would also like to manage expectations too.
At the risk of sounding like an absolute loser, does anyone else just ... not really have friends? I’m 26, never really connected with many girls in law school, and my handful of college friends are scattered far from me. Sure, there are people who I can text and vice versa, but I never have anyone to get a pedicure or drink with, let alone celebrate my recent engagement. I’m trying to stay positive, but it’s lonely out here!
I just finished watching the Netflix doc about Dominique Strauss Khan’s ~alleged~ sexual assault of Nafi back in 2011 and ...
SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED AND DON’T REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED
I’m shocked that the DA’s office can decline to prosecute so easily! According to the doc, the prosecutors explained that bc they didn’t believe the victim “beyond a reasonable doubt”, they couldn’t in good faith try to convince a jury to do so. Is that really the standard for declining to prosecute a case?
I’ve been in the insurance defense field for years but recently received an offer to transition to litigation coverage defense. The hours seem to be more reasonable but I would appreciate any input from attorneys who have made this transition, positive or negative.
Recently found out I’m pregnant. Husband and I are so excited, but we weren’t exactly planning this. I’m young (26) & only a 1st year assoc (started sept 2019). We were planning on waiting at least another year or two, b/c I love my job & firm & hoped to be more senior/established before needing to take leave. I’m trying to convince myself that I can “have it all” & am not losing my Big Law career by having this baby. Any tips or advice? (More in comments)
Aging parents - any book recommendations to help me learn about supporting and helping a parent cope with cognitive decline, dementia, going to assisted living, aging anxiety, and related issues, etc?
Based on the comments of many I know I’m not alone in just being weary right now and the past year. Big law litigation is just a billable hamster wheel I want to get off. I’m also done with firm politics, billable hours, and mystery comp models. But I’m a sucker for security and the “devil you know” has kept me here for years. Are lower stress law jobs a real thing in house and how do you get away from litigation if you haven’t been working hardcore on contracts?
Saturday Poll re: work bag. Since back to office is in anticipation, what work bag do you use and which brand, assuming you carry laptop to the office?

I would like to transition from a corporate transactional practice to a guardianship/conservatorship practice with a firm/org in another state. Any thoughts/ideas on how I can make this happen?

Most places don't really want first or second year laterals. So a lot of your initial apps were probably in vain. You're hitting the sweet spot now, but there are few openings, and competition is fierce. Have you gotten feedback on your resume and application materials?
Thanks for letting me know things will be better! It means a lot. I think my resume is good enough, at least according to my lawyer friends and recruiters. Do you have any suggestions on cover letters? My own cover letter is one page with 3 paragraphs detailing my background and what I can contribute. But the cover letters my recruiters prepared and sent are pretty much copied & pasted from my resume. Is this normal? Should I talk to them about this?
Keep in mind...there is nothing normal about this year! 🙂
