You should challenge your ECD to a fist fight
What's a Creative Lead?
Not a creative director
are you getting paid cd money?
that's the bigger question.
push for money. screw title.
agree 100000%
How long have you been doing CD duties?
No CD above me.
What’s your current title?
Yeah that’s a really big problem. You should absolutely bring it up with your boss. This isn’t about a promotion, it’s about a title correction. (And possibly salary correction.)
I’m not really a senior copywriter.
Especially when dealing with people outside your organization titles, not just responsibilities, do matter. If you’re already taking on those responsibilities it sounds like it’s worth fighting for. If your CD won’t hear it I’d see you if you can get a counter offer. It’s the only way I’ve seen people at my agency pull it off even when it became embarrassing that they didn’t have an appropriate title for the work they lead. On the other hand our accounts team has also occasionally exaggerated titles to clients when the meeting called for it.

Unfortunately, most agency’s expect you to do the job 1 or 2 levels higher.
If you’re a junior title, need to be able to work as a mid level. Mid level needs to be able to work a senior level. And so on.
We’re all underpaid and under appreciated my friend. And it’s rare an agency is going to pay you more, or promote you, for a job you’re already doing.
