nah. not the best leverage. get the offer to get into Group B elsewhere and take that to your current firm. negotiate up on that offer and have the match the entire thing.
And I think it’s easier to do that within the current firm. But I am not sure if my partner will let me go. Or how long the transfer it’s going to take.
Doubtful — but if the other firm would pay you more and you are open to leaving your current company it’s worth a shot.
If you’re new(er) to the firm and haven’t built like 2-3 years of solid tier 1/2 rankings and good relationships, I’d say probably not. If you have , worth a shot. Either way, you need to be fully prepared for PwC to call your bluff and be willing to leave to the other firm. So make sure you have an actual offer to leverage and be willing to go worst case.
Yes. If you’re a high performer and you’re going to jump ship. They will let you switch to avoid you leaving the family.
Don’t listen to these other fools.
Haha thank you for the reply! Yes I’ve been high performer and I’ve discussed with my current partner. They sound like they want to keep me but also agrees to help me connect with people in the other team. I’m not sure if they’re gonna really help with the transfer so I’m looking for other options which I could hopefully use as a leverage if they won’t help. I hope I’m just overthinking it.
I don’t understand the posts saying you don’t have leverage - you can absolutely use a competing offer as leverage. “I want to make the transition to group B as this group is where I see my career. I have enjoyed working at XYZ firm and would like to stay and continue my career here. but I have an offer from a competitor to the group that I want to be in. What would a transfer look like internally?” Be prepared to walk but if you’re good 9 times out of 10 a firm will try to keep their home grown talent if it means transfers
The offer I got is doing the same thing as I’m currently doing. That’s why I’m not sure if I can use it as leverage. If I can get an offer from the group I want then there wouldn’t be this question lol.
