I’d really work on the anxiety before you start your new gig. Try to start an exercise/meditation/yoga routine. Start journaling. Find a therapist. You shouldn’t feel this stressed out when you’re not even working. What type of company will you be working at? What type of role? It’s hard to prep for a job before you start. Training really happens on the job and every in house gig is so different. Industries also vary a lot. Hope you get to a more peaceful place.

I just started listening to a podcast called “Normal Gossip” where the hosts tell and discuss super juicy stories submitted by friends of friends and listeners and it is honestly one of the most entertaining (and distracting!) things I’ve listened to in a while.

Unplug so you can start fresh. IMO the worst thing you can do is show up to a new gig already/still burnt out. Take the time to start thinking through what you *actually* like to do and what apart from work makes you happy. Or if you don’t know, just start trying things (Outdoor activities? Art? Cooking? Learning new skills through YouTube videos?). You’ll likely have more protected time in-house than in biglaw, so why not get started on building back that healthy life balance that we all lose when working a million hours. Congrats on the transition!

If there anywhere you could go in spite of covid? Any doable drive to a cabin somewhere with great scenery?

Unfortunately, I don’t drive, but looks like I got some other good recs! Thank you!

Tell me in I’m over reacting. So I moved in with my boyfriend during Covid. We are quite different in a lot of ways, one of which is I’m often overly empathetic. Today we were going to the gym and a girl in my building was practically in tears because she had to board a flight and didn’t realize her dog needed a carrier. All the stores are closed and she couldn’t get one. She was offering to pay to rent someone’s so I offered mine. My boyfriend got extremely pissed at me and said I (contd below)

I always was considered attractive, but in the past year since covid, I gained over 20 pounds, my skin is completely ruined now, and my hair has also thinned out significantly. It's all stress/depression linked from the year. I genuinely hate mirrors or even wearing anything aside from my bathrobe/nightgown. I don't even fit in my winter coats anymore and am so ashamed to leave my home at all, which also leaves me less motivation to change and have given up. Anyone in the same boat here?

In the covid lockdown my long distance relationship didn't work and we seperated. After that it's been more than 1.5 yrs and I have forgot how to talk to a girl with all their nakhras. Even when someone tries, i don't feel interested. In short: I want a relationship but not the nakhra part. Is it possible!!

I got a brand new apartment in Seattle close to $2k / month back in March. Problem is, my SO can't come to visit (restricted from coming to the city). so I'm staying with them. The situation went from being a dread to being awesome. I have 4 monitors and a great office set up. It's $600/mo for both of us if we didn't have the apt. The problem is, I don't know what to do with my apartment now. I might want to go back after covid, but I don't think so. Do I try to sublet or hold on to it?
