The new place should be able to give you proper breathing room if you need 3 weeks and if they won’t it’s a flag
Yes. One week as a freelancer is fine. More is generous/a nice parting gift, but I’m of the school that a long transition doesn’t necessarily mean a more responsible one.

I'd try to give 2. I'm assuming it's not explicitly stated in your agreement and/or offer to transition if your sched allows up to you end date and a little beyond. Leave a clean wake and give your PM successor as much if a hand as you can - good PM karma.
Hey Sr. PM, I have openings, too. Hit me up and maybe you have multiple offers to assess.
If you are working on a specific project that is set to end in the fall, I would give 2 weeks as if you were an employee. However, if the timing you mentioned is general PM because they haven’t hired anyone, 1 week is fine.
Thanks for your reply to my post. The projects that I am working are not set to end this fall however as a freelancer I don't have job security or benefits and especially during a pandemic I do have protect myself.

Agree—1 week is fine if freelancer. You absolutely should take care of yourself!
