I’m currently working in a Disputes/Investigations practice after having to leave my previous job due to a physical move; my previous job was basically my dream job working in Global Investigations. Different consulting firms but want to get back to a similar role where I can be investigating bank fraud/wire fraud, etc. Currently working on mostly valuations and bankruptcies which do not interest me at all. Any advice on where to look?

I’m in the same boat. Pretty much exclusively do disputes but want to get into investigations. Not to hijack, but as someone who’s done both can you explain what you like more about the investigations side? Also, how is the work life balance in investigations - I’ve heard it can be terrible and involve nonstop travel

like

Sure. I can only speak for my experience but I didn’t travel once and the latest I ever worked was maybe 7:30 PM, which was probably 3-5 times ever. This may have been specific to my group and company but honestly I wouldn’t mind increased hours at all if it was for doing something that piqued my interest

Have you tried discussing this desire with someone in your new place? They may just not be aware that you have the specific interest and may work with you to get you on those projects to keep you from leaving

That really stinks, OP. I hope you can find a role and team that is a better fit!

Hello FishBowl community,

I was just told that my job could not accommodate me working remotely (since I broke my ankle) and because I am a new employee they were not able to do any type of leave.

I am a Talent Acquisition Partner with leadership and management experience, and my previous role was a Talent Acquisition Specialist. I have a bachelor degree in Business Management, and I’m looking for a remote role.

Any TA referrals or job opportunities would be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏼

Extremely toxic work environment & interviewing for other jobs. Would you 1) risk being fired (unsure when) or 2) quit/give notice and risk not having an offer fast enough? My finance is set and I’m primarily concerned about professional reputation. Somewhat unsure what to say to interviewers with whom I already started the process, though the real reason is role is nothing like advertised worsened by diff personalities… What would you do?

Four years of experience (PwC) and with current company a year and nothing but stellar reviews at the current company and am CPA. Job description requires at least 10 years experience but this doesn’t seem to be an issue. My question is, what should my salary expectations be for this role?

Hello Accountants,

I have a question. I have enough credits for the CPA exam, but before I realized that I was aiming for a Master in Accounting and got accepted in my school 5 year program for that purpose. Is there any benefit of getting said master? Or should I focus on passing the CPA exam instead? I just finished my first tax internship and everybody said that the CPA was unavoidable but nobody talked about any benefit of getting a master whatsoever.
What do you guys think?

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!
