As a Canadian that just moved to the US you can't live in Canada and be employed in the US. My firm allows us to work in Canada but only up 20 days. As for salaries I'm not sure about your industry but I can say that it is hard to find a job that pays over $100K (one of the reasons I moved to the US). Also you need to into consideration cost of living. If you live in Toronto or Vancouver (where you're likely to find jobs that pay over $100K) the COL is extremely high and your salary won't go far. DM if you have any specific questions of living there.
Speaking from the experience of family members, you will likely have to take a pay cut if moving to Canada, but it may be worth it in the long term. If possible, avoid having to live anywhere near Vancouver, or in Toronto proper. Try to look for remote roles and live in a lower cost of living area. If you and your spouse are both working, you should be just fine financially, and will likely be a lot happier with the added stability of no longer being on a visa
To answer your questions about what jobs pay >140k, it’s mostly gonna be tech jobs located in BC.
