Take a few minutes and look up your employers EAP (employee assistance program) - they can help you find a therapist in your area. Most employers give a few free sessions too. Make the time as it’ll be worth it. If it’s a work thing that’s bringing you down just know it won’t last forever - in time it will be ok. Good kudos to you.
Each company has its own process so it's hard to say what that next step is. But your next step is to make time if you can. Do you have vacation time? See if you can find a referral for well liked therapist. You'll need to try a few to see how you two mesh. A therapist is also not a silver bullet. It requires work from you as well to get the full effects. This is based on how my friends have sought help and many of them say they're on a better track though still work in progress. There could be psychological or chemical drivers but wither way you still need to practice self care and build a strong support network that you give and take in. When you're struggling on low sleep, it's hard to see past the small things. Last but not the least, you're not alone even if you feel it.
I am so glad you are reaching out and asking for help. You have a lot of resources at your disposal. You can go to your HR rep about the Employee Assistance Program and Leave of Absence options. Hopefully someone from BCG will weigh in on species as you may have a benefits coordinator within HR.
You can also start with your General Practitioner for a plan to help you get evaluated and start treatment (medicine, therapy, other).
Another really helpful tool is Psychology Today. You can filter therapists by insurance, location, gender, speciality, and then do research on them from there. EAPs can also help with this but if you want a relatively easy way to start on your own, that’s a really helpful website as well.
Doctors on demand app, you can FaceTime a therapist for around $12 rather than $150 per hour.
Take a leave of absence. I just did. Turned things around for myself in a month. Came back with better health, physically and mentally.
