I’m depressed, anxious, unmotivated, uninterested, easily frustrated, dead inside, etc. i pretend to be the opposite of me during interview and got the job. I’m starting the new job soon, do I continue faking it? I usually work with people who needs you to be nice and warm and involved and conversational and I force myself to be that and got burned out every day and I would hate faking again in new job..

Work through the issues with therapist or psychiatrist. I tried to “fix” these exact same issues by switching jobs and it did NOT help. Initially, it was ok but soon everyone can see the real me. People see everything when you work with them everyday / hard to fake it forever. Try something different in new job / tell them about your issues and tell them you are getting help (and do actually get help). They will understand better why you are and behaving the way you are. And they will appreciate your honesty.

I have interviewed for three different positions within DOJ in the national security sector and I always seem to get passed up. I have prepped extensively and have been my true self. My boss called me and let me know a client doesn’t want me on their project any longer because they didn’t like my presentation skills. I prepped so hard and really put everything into it. Huge audience and there were a lot of questions - but I navigated as thoroughly and accurately as I could, with the time I had. He told me not to worry about it, that clients been awful for a while and it happens with other companies/colleagues. Only my 10th solo presentation ever - but I still feel awful.

Any woman here who suffers from either PMDD or bipolar disorder? How did your doctors know the difference? I experience severe depression the week before my period and am very easy to set off/lose myself. Like full on hating myself, over sensitivity, and wishing to unalive. Then during my period plus after I return to “manic” happiness and productivity. Both my mother and grandmother were diagnosed as bipolar yet also had menstrual problems and I’m beginning to think they were misdiagnosed.
