I’m due for an upgrade on my work phone. Why are all the prices starting at $99 for the iPhone 7 and go up to as much as $400 for the other? I shouldn’t have to pay for a work phone.

You get $100 off more when you first start a line. If you don’t want to pay for a phone, then keep what you have. No one is making you purchase a new phone. No one is forcing you to select an iPhone. You can sell your current phone and use the proceeds to buy a new one. Our discount is phenomenal. Please stop complaining

TIL you can’t receive work emails on anything but an iPhone XS Max

PwC requires you to have a work phone, not a work iPhone.

like

You get to keep it when you leave, so I don’t see what the problem is with paying for a new phone.

like

There are some phones that are free. If you want a "better" phone like a newer iPhone you'll have to pay.

like

PwC3, my work phone is crapping out. It freezes all the time and the battery doesn’t charge all the time. I just think it’s stupid to have to pay for a phone when that phone is for work purposes. I’ll just keep mine until it’s broken and not replace it. I don’t have a work phone for my convenience, it’s for the firms convenience to get in touch with me. So if they don’t want to pay for a work phone, for work, then I’m okay with not having one. I just think they are really cheaping out.

like

There are free options. You can also sell the current one and use the proceeds to pay for the new one. You sound like you just want a reason to complain. 🙄

like

The phone is honestly my most missed perk. Come on now, you’re paying $200 for an iPhone 8 that would otherwise cost $700+ and you’re complaining?

like

“I shouldn’t have to pay for a work car. If Work requires me to travel then they should buy me a car”

Come on. You can’t be serious.... it’s a phone. You get paid a salary to buy a phone. And what do you use your work phone for? Phone calls and email? Weird. That’s what I use my personal phone for.

I’m almost 100% sure your personal phone also has those capabilities

like

When I started I got the new iPhone 7 and it was free. Why are they cheaping out all of a sudden?

like

That’s why everyone uses it as a personal too

like

Well, the intention with emobility is that you have one phone line. I don’t understand why people do the two phone thing, the firm can’t read your text messages or see anything that’s not part of a managed app by MobileIron.

like

I just looked in the site. For Verizon all the 7s are $99 and everything is more. I’m okay getting an 8 even though it’s not new but I’m not paying $200 for a work phone.

AT&T was subsidizing them before due to the service agreement. Also, the price increased.

AT&T/Verizon/other provider

Do they require you to have an iPhone?

Stuck between 2 offers, which would you choose? Eventually I want to work in ML/AI or blockchain/crypto

Offer 1: Non-profit financial advisor, awesome culture, design process & ethos align with mine, but still beholden to some outdated backend systems. Basically won't be able to innovate for a while

Offer 2: Consultancy focused on spinning up startups in large corp. Seems like cool work but I know very little about the culture/ process. Very sales-y HR but haven't talked to designers yet

How are folks handling the address on your business cards? I recently took my first officially remote position. I'm in the same region as one of the company offices, but not especially close and not officially associated with it.

Are folks just not putting an address on their cards? Nearest office address? Company HQ address?

Has anyone dealt with submitting domestic adoption costs for reimbursement? Do we just email them our receipts as the expense has occurred. Is there forms to fill out as well? I just started the process and made my first payment and want to know how to submit.

Any CPAs here that studied and took the GMAT after licensure? Currently looking into prep paths for it, am interested to hear perspective from someone who took both on how you prepped for it compared to CPA. After the hell of passing all 4 CPA exams what I've read so far about the GMAT honestly makes it sound fairly straightforward in comparison, but I don't want to let my CPA ptsd influence me into underestimating it if it's way more demanding than it looks on the surface.

As a senior, I am dealing with trying to get answers from management but those above me want to be the filter and asker of all questions with the client. That is fine, each team has a preference.

But the questions do not seem to get asked or when they do the answer isn't right. How do others deal with this issue?
