I’m due in Jan so still pretty early, when is the right time to tell your project M/SM? I’m afraid this will ruin my chances of them recruiting me for the next project. Everyone keeps saying Deloitte is extremely supportive of future moms and current but I can’t help but think I’ll get pushed out.

Im a SM but didnt tell my PMD until i was 20+wks, although mostly cause I am pretty private with this type of stuff. When you share is up to you. I shared with close colleagues sworn to secrecy at 12wks. From a project standpoint, I shared with my PMD because we were launching a new long term client relationship and I wanted us to be using the prenatal time to ensure we were properly positioning me and others for a smooth transition. We have people come and leave the firm ALL the time, so i would not worry too much about waiting if your inclination is to hold off on telling.

I’m also a SM and told at 12 weeks due to my workload and project portfolio. Everyone was supportive. It may have been a bit early, but I’ve felt really assisted throughout. I almost wish I told sooner as I was pretty sick and could have used the support earlier.

Thank you both for your response. This is reassuring and so glad to see that Deloitte has a great support system for parents and parents-to-be.

Hey everyone! I’m having a bit of trouble and I wanted to know if I can get some guidance. I have been on the same project for four years now and I’m doing great job. I’ve gone up in the ranks and now I am the clients right hand person. However in talking with my people manager, he wants to discuss where I plan on going in my career. And honestly, I haven’t really thought about it. I have always been raised to just do my job and go home. And honestly I’m fine with that. But when it comes to 1/2

Alright, I confess: I’m just starting my second year as a manager (first in a new office I transferred to last November), and I’m feeling more and more exposed to the point where I know that others (staff, seniors, partners, and the client) know that I don’t know shit. Feels like I’m caught off guard in conversations on a routine basis. How has everyone else been able to get more comfortable with being uncomfortable when it comes to dealing with new accounting issues for a new client?
