I'm falling apart mentally due to stress causing issues on my mental health, but I'm trying to stay strong because I desperately need a promotion.

Take some time off and talk with your supervisor. No one wants to see you suffer mate. If they're unwilling to readjust find something else. I went through a period of being in the office from 8am till 10pm for about 8 months straight and it affected me and my wife, in the end I started saying no, specifying workable deadlines and then left as I always think I'm not being paid enough. I think CS1's point is this is advertising not open heart surgery. You are expected to work your ass off but agencies will always push as far as they can until you push back. It'll be awkward but practice saying no creatively and see how your w/l balance changes.

Hope it works out for you OP. Do you have self care options to help?

Is it the workload at your agency? Still feel you. It's affecting my mental health as well

like

I've always said "We're selling shit, not saving lives." That's the mindset I've had in this industry, it's the only way I can keep my head on straight.

like

I'm sorry you feel that way. Is it related to workload? Hang in there!

like

Well I'm not fairly compensated for my work load, which makes me extremely invested in my obsession with doing a good job. This is the reason why I take work so seriously.

Thanks everyone!

Let me rephrase - that's the attitude you should have - people will respect you more

like

CS1- I'm interested in how you came to that conclusion. In my experience when a person cares less about their job, people lose respect for them. I have not experienced that the other way around.

like

Why are you stressing though?? Work hard but who cares - its just a job

Yeah it's my workload, but I was told essentially "too bad"

Today I was officially diagnosed with adult adhd. I can’t begin to explain how relieved I am. It turns out things that I’ve considered personality defects are actually symptoms of this disorder. Talk to your doctor and do research. You never know what’s going on inside your brain.

Fellow consultants, I’m struggling and I know complaining about this will only make me look weak but I need to vent. I’ve been working upwards of 60 hours a week since January and I’m tired. If I was doing meaningful work, it would be one thing but most of my days are spent supporting my client with fire drills that end up not mattering. He’s very reactionary and trying to guide him to hold off or think of other approaches doesn’t work. (Cont).
