I am working at MSLGROUP as an Associate, less than 1 yoe , they have asked me to relocate in 4 weeks to the Location (currently wfh).
Also I have an offer from one of the competitors based in my City.
Relocating will shoot up my expenses and joining the competitor is kind of a downgrade in terms of brand.
What do you think guys?
Going in house is the move, right?

Getting left out of things you’d normally be a part of. People not looking you in the eyes (which isn’t a thing right now). Your agency losing a ton of business?
Sudden lack of communication is a big sign IMO.
Agree with SVP above. Biggest signs are not being included in anything future oriented-like internal or client meetings, new biz pitches, memos, projects, performance reviews etc. Also you manager avoiding 1-1 calls with you, as well as practice leaders or other seniors who would likely be aware of what’s coming. If you believe this is happening, be smart and prepare as much as you can.
On the flip side, I was completely blindsided. Entrenched in managing big client projects, running teams, etc. I knew layoffs for the agency were coming, but was honestly shocked when it happened to me...if it happens to you, come back and I’ll have advice to give :)
It happened. Advice welcome!
Not giving you work is one sign.
I haven’t been laid off during COVID but lost my job a few years ago in a lay-off. It was right after a client loss and for the two weeks leading up, I had almost nothing to do. When my manager who had never had a 1:1 with me before scheduled a meeting I knew I needed to pack up my stuff & save important files!
Same thing happened to me at VaynerMedia. That place does quarterly lay offs. No pandemic or protests required.
We lost a fair amount of business (20%) but my team in particular has low billability (under 50%) in most cases.
If they give you an ultimatum.
Things that I found strange but didnt know why - my boss was suddenly interested in my client/agency calls and wanted to involve a colleague from another division. Also, my boss kept saying no to all of my forward-looking ideas. Best of luck!
