I'm frustrated. Everywhere I've worked I've gotten great reviews and even leadership awards. At my last company my boss was promoted to CAO. She hired a director but made her VP of HR at hire due to someone leaving. VP ran 6 HR directors out of the co (we all left without jobs lined up). After I left my team quit & the CAO was fired. Now they promoted this VP to a Sr VP. I gave so much, got nothing, yet she fell into SVP. I have a new Director level job. How do I break into the VP level?

Sounds like everything went to shambles, but it might simply be a matter of holding out and being patient for a while. Definitely sounds like your credentials and leadership skills are worthy of a VP title.

Sadly, this is all taboo but we all know there always has and always will be politics in these work places. And if your company had 6 directors of HR, well then I can only imagine the politics were abundant.

Ooooof, that's tough. Sounds like you were primarily a victim of bad timing. Is there opportunity for growth where you are currently? If not, then it may be time to move on again. If so, then I'd suggest continuing to work hard, just as you did at your last position, and being patient. I know it's hard, but it'll be worth it in the long run. And, of course, let your goals be known to the higher-ups so they keep you in mind for promotions. Good luck!

What a tough situation you got right there. That's definitely out of your control. I'd suggest you compile all your accomplishments and other docs. Best of luck, OP!

Question: what system do you use to manage Employee Relations cases and investigations? Ideally, if you can identify company or industry with selected technology, it will help with our RFP efforts. Thank you!

I’m not old BUT when I was younger I thought it was important to have all the alphabets after my name (I.e. Phr, SHRM and all the others). I learning that the younger crowd coming into the market thrives off these identifiers yet they know very little about the real world aspects of the job. I watch leadership roll their eyes at the email footers. I feel like keeping those attached to my name hurts my credibility so I removed them…. I’m I thinking wrong?

Since he has joined, he's only made 1 hire in 5 months. I've made 11 hires. We're set to the same expectations in our work. The only difference between us is his years of experience and a significantly hire salary. How do I approach the conversation with my company on the pay disparity? I feel so undervalued based on all of this.
