A combination of stock sales and loans. Surprisingly a lot of billionaire founders take gigantic loans out against their shares for liquidity. Obviously it doesn’t send a good sign to shareholders that the founder is selling huge blocks of shares, so they trim from time to time, but the loans allow them to actually convert equity into cash.

I’m not an expert but I’m pretty sure they sell off smaller lots like you mentioned. There’s actually a pretty interesting Tesla/Musk theory about why he tweeted “funding secured” that relates to his loans against Tesla stock

Here’s what really happened

When someone like Jeff Bezos gets a salary of $81,000 a year, and his entire wealth is tied up in company stock, how do they afford their lavish lifestyles? Again, I know how stupid this sounds and I’m sure there’s an obvious answer I’m just not seeing.

There is no way that’s his only comp

He could have 10b5-1 selling program, he could be receiving specially dividends, and he probably had a liquidity event at some point and the assets are income producing....

I guess I’m thinking that amazon pays no dividend... so there’s no cash there.

Hi y’all. So I haven’t technically onboarded for my firm yet, I’m suppose to start in 3 weeks. One of the projects I’m going to be put on requested to have a little interview with people of the team so I had mine today. The “interviewer” didn’t really seem to think I was qualified for this project at the end of the conversation (agree to disagree with him on that). Regardless, am I in trouble for not fitting his criteria/selling myself enough…kinda worried on my manager’s response….
