She sealed her fate by climbing into his lap and kissing him.
You both are truly angels. ❤️
If you have the time and want to learn, do it. 😊
Having a buddy (especially if new addition is a puppy) will probably help both dogs.
But if your hesitation is not having enough time to follow through with training that’s completely valid!
Side note I have 3 dogs, all sob stories. I’m the wrong person to talk you out of this lol.
If you feel that you can give this dog a good home, then please do take her! There are few enough people who can do so at any time. And right now — with the heartbreaking wave of voluntary surrenders, as the masses of thoughtless, heartless people who “adopted” dogs like any other lockdown fad are going back to work in their offices — shelters are becoming overwhelmed so quickly that many pets are getting put down without much holdout... especially those who shelters deem less likely to find actual, forever homes soon enough 😭💔😭
I have cried over this situation more than I care to admit. If you’re able and willing to give this good girl a loving home, it would be truly wonderful indeed

Thanks, all! I'm afraid I won't have the time to train her the way she needs to be trained. When I have insanely busy days, or a hearing or litigation, I know my current dog gets bored with the lack of exercise and training. So on the one hand, if they bond, they can play together. But this also means at least double the training time.
My husband is going to check her out on Sunday. He is good at spotting "our" dog. Like I almost walked away from the blue heeler he told me was "my" dog. I'm so glad I didn't. She definitely is my dog. So if he meets her and knows she belongs with us, we'll take her.
It sounds like you guys know yourselves and have a good system. And it’s awesome that you’re taking the time and any steps you need to make a decision that’ll work for you and your furry family. Either way, Best of luck to you and your husband!
For what it’s worth, I found this post quite heartening 🙂

I was going to say the same thing as CS - I know people who have done it and it’s definitely easier if the dog has buddy to help her. They become a bonded pair.
I have 2 heelers and would love to get another but they are so high energy, takes a lot to tire them out as I’m sure you know. Both were rescues. I say do it.
