It’s awards season for Scroogiest Company of the year! Time for Q4 cuts and gotcha just kidding about them bonuses haha memorable moments.
I’ll go first- Argonaut just laid off a lot of people right before the Dec. 9th bonus dispersal date that was promised for folks who had been employed since March 2020. Those crazy kids! Always up to something silly!
Gonna go ahead and say though that Better is still narrowly in first place after the Zoom firing holiday Xmas special. Who else?

How to refer someone at PwC SDC using Workday?
I’ve never purchased from this brand so can’t comment on that. I’m familiar with Ross though. You’re not going to find much silk there. All polyester and other crap fabric. However, that’s good enough for zoom calls. For office, you will have to mix high and low.
Yeah for Office I’m more of a Theory, Elie Tahari, Ann Taylor type of person. I love the mix high and love comment!
The thing is you need a lot of time and good taste to find professional clothes at Ross that look 80% as good as MMLF / Theory. I used to be a big Ross / TJMaxx shopper and put a lot of effort into it (it was fun!).
As I have become older, better paid, and more environmentally conscious, I value my time a lot more and have adopted a “fewer, better things” approach to clothing. I’m now looking for specific types of pieces of high quality and flattering cuts that will last me a decade - hopefully on sale, sure, but “90% off” something that doesn’t meet my criteria isn’t a win for me. So shopping at Ross doesn’t make as much sense for me anymore.
I totally agree, I am the same way.
Then go to Ann Taylor. Or just go to Ross if you say so.
RSM1- I absolutely adore Ann Taylor and think their pieces are much more reasonably priced.
A2- I’ll do that! Thx!
Before I went into consulting I thought everyone would notice how expensive my clothes are but genuinely no one cares! Maybe it’s different at higher levels like partner, but as long as your clothes look nice, people generally don’t notice where they’re from
It’s definitely not about brand (I prefer stuff that isn’t obviously branded or on trend!) but fit and fabric quality are important to executive presence.

I get great prices from MM LaFleur in the sale/clearance section now that I’m confident in the sizing (skirts, dresses, pants, and jackets - I have only one top). They have held up much better than almost all of my lesser expensive items, don’t need to be dry cleaned, and don’t wrinkle.

Then go to Ross 🤷♀️
Yep, I will :)
White House Black Market is another great option.
Let me know if you have any questions! I am a personal stylist and brand ambassador for WHBM, Chico’s and Soma! ♥️
I’ve bought several skirts from mm lafluer, all on sale prices. They are great, beautifully made and I wear them a lot. But I agree I wouldn’t pay those prices for a silk shirt or simple blouse.
Maybe I’ll give it a try one day!
Try Nordstrom rack! You can get the look for a lot less.
Thanks M2! Yes Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth too maybe!
Buy vintage/secondhand. I just saw a documentary that 100 million tons of waste is created from fashion biz every year. I love shopping vintage. And also shop your closet. You probably have a ton of good clothes already they just may need to be styled differently or altered
Try Quince! I bought a silk bias skirt for $60 compared to the 150+ it would cost me elsewhere.
Ok then don’t? 🤷🏻♀️
Yep, I won’t!
If you travel every week, MMLF is worth it. Wrinkle free, stretchy, machine washable, chic, hides the body flaws.

I’d wait for the sales as well. So many places to shop for quality attire and TJ maxx usually have name brand quality clothing for a fraction.
Do you want it and have trouble justifying it? Or are you venting?
You’re paying for the cut and the quality of fabric. If you are fine with getting cheap things tailored and replacing them often, then go ahead.
Oh god
