I’m going through health issues that require multiple doctor appointments, but am responsible for multiple projects and junior staff. When do I need to share my medical issues with my superior?

Go to HR and ask for guidance. Don’t share your specific issue for privacy reasons but bottom line, taking care of your health should not (legally) be held against you

I would say the sooner, the better. Once they know they can't do anything that could be seen as retaliation, but if they don't know and then reprimand you for absences in some way, you'd don't have a case because they weren't informed.

Your company should have benefits that protect your job while dealing w health issues. Don’t feel bad or guilty about asking HR. It’s not your fault. We all have shit to deal with. Health comes first. Ignore your coworkers who say something.

Just tell your colleagues when they joke, “yes, i know i have been out a lot recently and unfortunately it will continue, if there is anything i can do to minimize the Impact on you please let me know.”

However you handle it, don’t feel bad or guilty. Your health > your career

Colleagues have started joking that I’ve been out of the office a few times lately.

Don't. Soldier up

@Herezie any thoughts on how to address the multiple appointments? I’m fine at work and it’s not conflicting with my deliverables, I just need to be out for 2-3 hours every few weeks.

to 🐠 with severe anxiety/prone to panic attacks: i need guidance on how to help my loved ones manage through their anxiety. their anxiety is usually triggered by health related situations so COVID-19 has been especially difficult for them. scenarios of them getting triggered include when they’re running, they sometimes get bouts of coughs so then they panic, thinking they can’t breathe. or they accidentally touch harsh chemicals and think they injected toxins. how can i help and be supportive?

I am looking to switch careers. I have been in my current career for nearly 20 years. I need a change. I have masters degree in instructional technology, health care administration, and English. I feel lucky to have a job, but it is getting very depressing and difficult to get up for work.

What are your success stories about succession planning? I was hired as a lateral to work on/help sustain a retiring partner's book of business. During my interview in 2017, he said his target retirement would be 2019-2021. Now, after a good 2020 (for our practice area), he mused that he might not retire until 2025. I don't want him to feel pushed out, and have a lot to learn from him, but I do want to help/plan handoff of work. Interested in guidance for how to have these conversations!

So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.
