Get some drinks in hotel bars on Sunset with cool views of the city like The Edition, Merois, Harriet’s, Sky Bar etc. Spend a day in Venice rent some bikes and go for a ride along the beach, visit some fun bars and restaurants in Santa Monica, go to Malibu for a sunset dinner. Have fun :)
Agree with all above! I love being a tourist in my own city, so I’ll also suggest museums! Broad, LACMA, Academy. And if you’re in LA you gotta hike! Wisdom Tree trail, any Hollywood sign trail, Runyon, Bridge to nowhere (far but absolutely amazing). Get to Yamashiro in Hollywood for sushi and views for days!
LA ain't cheap dear.
Make peace with that first before recommendations.
Oh, I have haha.
Coachella is far from LA. Make a realistic plan on how long you’ll have before and after to explore. One day will likely not be enough/
I'll be there a few days before and a few days after. Just chill things.
If you go to Chinatown, you’ll have so many choices for good Chinese food. Philippe The Original is on the outskirts of Chinatown. It has been around since 1908 so you know they must be doing something right. Finally, AVOID Pablito’s World. It’s Peruvian fusion food that is average at best, but has so much social media hype that isn’t deserved. They “lose” order slips, make customers wait almost 2 hours, and never even give you a sorry when they tell you you’ve waited for nothing. You leave hungry and without a refund.
Letting you know because I don’t want a fun time in LA to be marred by a bad food experience.
Food is very diverse and authentic here, make some food destination along with touristy spots
Elephante in Santa Monica has a nice vibe and view. Make res or go early.
Don’t sleep on Little Tokyo or Arts District downtown. Great ramen and bars. Venice is better than Santa Monica IMO. Hollywood is cliche but if you like the clout chasing rooftop bs it’s good for that.
Depending on what weekend you go, be sure to go to some “afters” between W1 and W2.
Also what may help people give recs is letting us know where you’re staying and what you like to do, and is this first time visiting. LA’s a big place with tons to do so kinda hard to just give broad recs
Coachella is not in LA. it is 2 hours away. FYI
I know - we'll be in LA before and after for a few days.
Downtown (DTLA) has good rooftop bars: Ace Hotel, PerchLA, and Wayfarer Hotel. Also the basement lounge of Wayfarer (Lilly Rose) has a cool band that performs on Friday night (9p-12a).
