Im going to start at Morgan Stanley in 3 weeks. Standalone analyst position in Tech with just a few key stakeholders and none of them in the same office as me. What are the chances I can swing fully remote work? (I saw there is a possibility to request this.)

In the past 6 months I’ve had to let two new hires go for being incompetent/unable to perform their jobs to standard. I’m trying to think about why this keeps happening, and all I can come up with is that both were remote hires living in tertiary markets (I live in NYC, which is also where HQ is).

Is there any truth to this assessment? Should I think twice about hiring from small markets/expecting talent from middle America to immediately thrive in an NYC firm? Or is this unfair?

Hi fish, trying to figure out when to exit consulting. Currently i’m a specialist (one level below engagement manager), and will need additional ~1.5 year to make em. I have also have a green card complication, so need to wait for ~8 months before i can leave. So, would that make sense to stick around to make em? Or should I exit at once when green card is resolved?
I feel that it is hard to directly exit into a manager role even after promoting to em. What is your thoughts? TIA

Have an offer in NZ for 115 NZD plus 10% bonus. 3 YOE, no MBA. Not big4 or MBB, but in the analytics consulting function of another company. It feels a little low? Can I get more by moving to Sydney?
