I'm going to trial on a case that doesn't need to be going to trial. I have killer impeachment evidence. I'm usually a very streight shooter. Would it be a bad decision to turn over that evidence to OC before trial or is that just giving them more time to come up with rebuttals?

Background facts: Their whole case is based on the testimony of witness X. However, Witness X and my client are in separate litgation and Witness X has alot of ulterior motives. We don't think Oc has any idea about any of this.

I think I'd rather just be upfront about it.... I would rather win on the law and facts than try and be sneaky.

We only learned about Witness X testimony right before case was going trial. By law this type of case has to go be heard within 30 days. Witness X is a non party. I'm not sure OC will conceed what they need to conceed either way but I think they might if they find out. Also litgation against witness X hasn't officially been filed yet but lit hold notices have been sent and negotiations have been on going case isn't super strong so we didn't file untill we have more evidence.

I would appreciate any advice on how to stay on top of non urgent tasks. As a 2nd year, I’m often tapped to handle tedious tasks that need to get done quickly. Tbh, I like urgent matters. It motivates me and helps me focus. I admittedly struggle to care about checking in on DWQs, record requests, OC’s discovery, scheduling matters, etc. Especially with so many cases. I definitely rely heavily (maybe over rely?) on the paralegals for these sort of things. Any tips?

Hi fishes,

I have the following 2 offers..

Cognizant- 21L fixed and 1.5L variable
PWC - 22L fixed

This is for a guidewire role.
Which is a better offer? What would be a good option for growth wrt role, salary etc.
Also, PWC claims to offer variable based on their fixed CTC based on the ratings.. is this true ? How much is the avg percentage given?

Thanks in advance!

I’m the only associate (mid-level) in a niche transactional group. My team is slammed. My paralegal is on leave. My partners keep delegating work to me but then I have no one to delegate anything to. Nearly everything for 2 big deals is on my list. I’m so stressed that I feel like I can’t breathe most days. I need help but there isn’t any available. I’m starting to feel like quitting is my only option. Any recommendations?

Plaintiffs counsel took my clients deposition today. He mentioned that he would likely be ordering the transcripts and I suggested we split the cost of them (in front of court reporter). He got pretty defensive and said absolutely not, it’s unfair to the court reporter, and that it is frowned upon in the industry to do that. Each party orders (and pays for) their own copy. I’m in my 2nd year of practice, never heard such a thing. I’ve actually split the cost before! Curious for insight on this…

So stuck. What do I do? I joined this firm a year ago (4 yrs exp total) to grow/get more court/client exposure. Then 2 more-experienced associates were hired, pandemic, & all cases are divided between the other 2. I have no defined tasks except deficiency letters or the odd pro bono case. Boss claims it's mentoring. I still need to meet bill req.

Last wk Boss said I'll do more & my work was good, but today said I can't 2nd chair bc I don't have experience. I'm doing less now than my prior firm.

Whoever said employers don’t care about grades and transcripts after your first job was a liar. Every lateral position that I’ve applied to as a 3rd year has requested transcripts.
