I am a senior consultant (Tech Consulting) in a Big4 (India) who is promised a promotion in October. I have an offer from Accenture Ireland at CL9 level. Is it worth making the move? I have started disliking the culture in my team and thus looking for a change. It would be great if someone could help me out with this. Accenture

I feel this way too. I’m an introvert and end up emotionally drained by the end of every day.
Wouldn’t it be great if our culture wasn’t just a good place for ex-frat boys (and girls)?
If you’re good at your work and your clients recognize that, then you ARE a good consultant. The shmoozing is helpful as you move up the ranks but is not necessary for building great professional/sales relationships. Doing great work and being able to talk about it is far more valuable than going out for drinks and talking about vacations.
Interpersonal relationships are part of your business. If you fail to recognize this you’re not living up to your potential in business (not just consulting). There are a million people who can deliver technically, do not underestimate the value of soft skills and relationships. Your work is also important, I’m not arguing that, but it’s naive to think it’s all that matters.
OP have an honest conversation with your mgr about this. Not everyone is good at this. Either think about getting some coaching or find ways to get involved in other ways. Eg Brown bags about the trends you’re seeing; teaching a class or facilitate a workshop. If small talk doesn’t come easy to you maybe a more formal setting works better

Booz Allen 1: I agree to the extent that’s why I said I’m a bad consultant. At the same time some skill sets require more hard deliverables than others and when it’s a choice between producing quality client work vs building relationships, important to realize that there simply might not be space for it all.

Consultant 1: I really wonder what will happen to introverts in the workforce in coming years. It seems like it’s perceived as a bad thing to not want to fraternize with coworkers and to prefer working independently
