I’m having a hard time focusing because of the overturning of Roe v wade, I feel so heavy and have been fighting back tears. Is it warranted to request a mental health day for the rest of the day to kinda just sit with this?

In my opinion, yes, absolutely. A lot of us are reeling today. Take care of yourself.

You don’t need to explain or ask…just take the time. If you want to be more intentional you can share why or some level of detail about why…but you need to take the time if you need it. Period. Dot. End of story.

like

Yes! Do it! I’m going to assume that you’re a good employee and you’ve earned a mental health day for any reason. If you work for a shitty company or boss then say you think you have COVID and you’re going home for the safety of others.

like

Agree to disagree I guess

like

There's no requirement to explain why one need's a mental health day. Just say you have to go home.

like

Yes it is warranted. You don’t need to explain the time but mental health falls directly under sick time.

The decision is to overturn Roe v. Wade is hurtful. Women have fought for their rights for years. Absolutely. Take a mental health moment. You have the right to do so. It's difficult to perform your job when you're not in the right frame of mind.

like

There is no need to tell your boss anything except you need a personal day. Hugs.

I talked to my boss about needing a day and he didn’t even question it and told me to take the day and to let him know if there’s anything he could do. It made me feel much better knowing that my boss, who is based in London, knows what’s going on here in the US and treated this situation with empathy and no questions asked. Thank you for the encouragement!

like

I’m so glad to hear that! A small light of happiness during this time of BS.

like

I hope you took the day if needed and kept your reason for needing the day to yourself. last thing you need is someone judging you, your ability to manage stress and your workload.. questioning your personal beliefs. Hang in there..

Been feeling this way since the decision was made. I ma right there with you. Keep your chin up.

I’m very discouraged. I have been aggressively looking for my next company / job for five months. I am landing some interviews but they go nowhere. Is this just the market? Am I doing something wrong? Am I too picky? I am really good at what I do, so I am shocked how hard it has been to land a new gig. My current company has been hard on my mental health and I am considering quitting with nothing lined up. I need some advice or words of wisdom, please. Thank you!

Do you feel like women are underrepresented in the insurance industry? I work with a ton of great women and didn't really think much about it until I spoke to a friend who also works in office, she says there are like 5-10 female employees out of over 100 CSM's. If you think there are less women in insurance than men, why do you think that is?

Hello all. I’m and RN and have been for 8 years. I have done so much beyond bedside. I never wanted to be a nurse, just did it because I didn’t know what I really wanted to do, and job security. I have always been artistic, but I want steady income. I tried the entrepreneurial thing, and for myself into a financial mess. My mental health has been declining and I’m fixing that. I guess I’m frustrated because I want to make more money so I can save and live comfortably, enjoy my job. Any advice?

I discussed with my lead , he said if you really want to leave then prepare a good reason and leave on good terms, management will try to give lucrative offers so that you stay.

What are some safe resignation reasons to give so that
they cannot counter it and it looks genuine and safe as well.
I do not want to say that I am leaving because I am getting another offer.

Kindly guide 🙏

I’d like to be prepared for the initial phone screen convo, which will only last 20-30 minutes. The JD shows the salary range as 110-130(USD) commensurate with experience, but I’m happy to land anywhere in that range—yet I don’t think it’s good to disclose that. How can I tactfully still talk to the recruiter about landing closer to 130? Not trying to be greedy, but certainly aiming high!

Does your company offer any sort of monthly reimbursements (phone reimbursement, Internet reimbursement, electricity reimbursement)?

My previous company offered $50 for phone and $25 for Internet as monthly non taxable reimbursements (added through payroll and receipts were not required). My current company is reimbursing up to $30 for electricity each month upon receipt and is thinking of adding it to payroll as a recurring taxable reimbursement.

Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)

I hear people say "that's too small for me to do" or "I don't want to start there" not realizing that the some of the largest things have started small. You can start RIGHT NOW with what you have. This is the last month in the year, NO MORE EXCUSES.
