Diversity is addressed at the pipeline and recruitment. Further, firms must do more to develop and retain the diverse talent they already do have. Inclusion begins at the tone of the top. Start and work from there.

There's not a whole lot you can do if your office demographics just don't skew towards being diverse? I guess you could encourage authenticity and making the office a safe place for any possibly queer folk who might not be out in the office, but you don't have any guarantees there

Does your team have a good mentorship program in place for diverse staff? It’s helpful to increase connectivity and help support with navigating career decisions.

I’m the only blacks person on my team. There’s also one Mexican and everyone else is white and straight. Hope that helps

Deloitte’s SAP practice seems like a separate Indian firm. Having worked in Europe before where we had a lot of diversity (both in terms of gender and ethnicity), this seems odd.

As far as preferred gender pronouns go, I’m all about choosing he, she, xe, ze, whatever you want to describe yourself as - but can we please rethink using “they” and “their” to describe a single person? It gets confusing ya’ll. There’s zero judgement here, just grammatically speaking it introduces so much ambiguity and misunderstanding into the English language. That is all. Feel free to clap back if you think I’m out of line or misunderstanding something - always here to learn

To all my friends and colleagues supporting the D&I cause, I apologize for the rant but please know that this is important to me: We are Latinos, not Latinx. It’s not a description of gender, it’s a construct of “our” language to describe the plural in the masculine form. Spanish just be like that, as does French, Italian, and German (and others). Stop appropriating my language and adding your colonial English grammar rules to it. Please. Pretty please. With a great big cherry on top.

My company is forcing me to disclose my gender pronouns in my email signature. I’m a straight male? I 100% support the LGBTQ community but I feel like this mandate is encroaching. I don’t feel empowered per the company’s announcement - I feel like I’m being indoctrinated.

Bad news friends - I work at a top tech firm and just got word that executive comps are now tied to diversity metrics. Surprise surprise, Asians were grouped as a whole and not considered diversity.
