I live in San Diego, have my whole life, rents high taxes are high but I think it’s worth it to be 10 minutes from the beach, decent weather the whole year except a few days of rain(which I like), an easy weekend trip to Mexico, few hrs from the desert/mountains, lots of wineries around
Also if you are looking to buy, I know that houses in my current area are selling for 1mil+ and people are offering 200k over asking and still getting shot down

I found a couple calculators (didn't even know these existed) that said I'd need a salary of 117k because CA living cost is ~54% higher than MO. But these websites also said that houses in CA cost ~112% higher. My soul is crushed by these numbers

I have 17k in student debts (all government subsidized so I don't have to pay until Sep 1) and a 185k house loan (3% interest). I'd say these are pretty low debts. I don't have any other debt.
