Will it help if take short courses? My spouse used to work as programmer and analyst in the past and had Masters degree in computer science. Your advices will be greatly appreciated
Find an agency or private school who offers small course with internship. Ex. BusyQA in GTA, Canada.
They provide paid co op opportunities and they help find a job as well. Hope this will help
Simply filling out electronic applications has a very low success rate. Your spouse has an employment gap, and companies often dismiss applications without a second look.
To get around that, use Linkedin to find hiring managers and attempt to call or email them directly. Look on Github for people doing projects that match your spouse's background. Send them a message, maybe they know about a spot where they work.
Attend local meetups, and talk with people in the field. Is anyone hiring? Most cities have plenty of user groups and professional societies that provide lots of contacts.
