Wow!! A) You’re a super woman for taking care of two kids during maternity leave. Just the newborn is hard enough! B) Sleeping seven hours by five weeks?? Teach me your ways! Best we did was 8 hours by 8 weeks and we felt like we conquered parenting. (Actually don’t take the time to teach me anything - have a sit and enjoy the free moments instead!!)

Great job momma!!!!!

Thank you all!! I feel a bit more like myself today and I know it’s because I got that extra sleep. I wanted to find a therapist but the one I chose has a 3 month waitlist!! So I bought a book on PPD and and trying to figure out how to get out of my depression. I didn’t experience this PPD with my first kid so it’s definitely a struggle. Looking forward to the days I am really fully myself again. Thank you for the advice too - I’ll take any advice you’ve got!

Also maybe try your employer’s EAP, usually you get a few free visits to start and someone is available right away, then they can refer if needed.

You got this!!! Sending so many hugs your way, it’s such a roller coaster. You WILL sleep again, promise!!!

like

Yey! Getting that sleep is so important. Also, as you start thinking more clearly (as some sleep can enable that;) start figuring out where and how you can get some extra help. Who can step in / step up to give you few hours of free time? What does your firm offer? For example my firm’s emergency bright horizon daycare set up includes getting a sitter for a day (over a 30 day period if used consecutively) for super cheap like $20 or something. I forget, it has been a while. A shower in peace, a kid Netflix movie with your toddler while the baby is taken care of or your toddler having fun while you watch your Netflix movie as the baby hangs / eats / naps in your lap. Anything like this will do wonders for your soul. Good luck!!

Don't want to spoil OPs success. Genuinely curious I am a FTM , 24 weeks pregnant and I thought new borns should be fed once every three hours. Can they be asleep for 7/8 hours. This is great to hear

Gotcha, thank you

Congrats! That’s a really hard place to be- I hope you’re getting some care and support for PPD- it doesn’t tend to go away on it’s own. Here’s to many more nights of sleep for you! ❤️

I work with several people with kids and I have noticed quite often that they completely disregard any issues of people with no kids and try to one up work life imbalance conversations with stories of them being parents. It must be hard being a parent but I don’t think people at work should be treated differently or given any additional consideration just because they have a kid. You already get parental leave so If I’m expected to work 12hr I ask the same to be expected from my peers with kids.
