I’m hoping to consolidate some of my investments by moving things from TD Ameritrade to Fidelity. Does anyone have any watch outs or concerns about transferring the assets? Not trying to sell anything, and found this form online that I think does it all for you?

Call, tell them you’re thinking of moving, tell them a competitor is offering you money to transfer to them. I got fidelity to match a Schwab promotion I saw advertised and they gave me a $1200 bonus to roll over to them.

Didn't know they even offered bonuses on this sort of thing! Where you transfering a large amount?

What sort of funds? If it's 401k or IRA I believe you need to initiate a roll over or request a transfer. Don't just pull the money. I'm pretty sure there is an official process that needs to be followed/documented. And there's a time frame by which the funds must be redeposited as to avoid getting count d as a withdrawal and getting taxed. If you're talking about brokerage account funds, not sure how that works.

If it’s retirement funds, try to do the direct transfer. If they send you a check, make sure it’s made out to the target institution. This is sometimes better when you need to set up a new fund with the target company. If not retirement funds, it’s a sale and transfer of assets, which will require paying taxes on gains.

^Above information by the way to all has proven to be false. I’ve called both fidelity and td ameritrade and they have refuted this statement

If you are transferring retirement funds, fidelity would have incoming rollover form, which needs to be completed electronically and the funds should directly roll in few days. I moved my Roth from TD to vanguard.

Due to COVID impact on my family, I had to take a long break (10 months) from work, went back to the home country and be with them. Since things are settled now I would like to get back to work. Spending another day questioning every decision ever made. I don’t like being a solo practitioner in an area that is incredibly difficult to not only win a case but to get paid for your time. I need to find an area of law I can work in and make money (preferably not family or criminal law). I would like to find a partner to work with, but I don’t even begin to know how to go about it. I am regretting going to law and leaving teaching, but you couldn’t pay me enough to go back to the classroom.

60M people need to be vaccinated. Offering them $1000 each would cost this country $60B. Realistically, you can get to half of that population — $30B. One booster shot for 250M people at 80% uptake — $200B. For $30B - $230B, we can end the pandemic in the USA. Worth it? Edited: add in $5M for an MBB to do this math and put it in a PPT for you. And $50M for a big 4 firm to implement, botch, reimplement.

Turning 30 and just feel like I’m getting dumber. I am a smart person (at least relatively) and work at MBB but lately I just feel as though I have not been as sharp as I normally am. I spent the last week drinking and going out till 3am every night (NYC) so that doesn’t help but are there any tips to regain my form and just become smarter?
