I’m in a bit of a conundrum. I am the Marketing Director in a space where they have never had marketing before. I created a new website, a shorter domain for emails etc and I manage all social media, advertising, creative, brand awareness etc. my boss is constantly challenging me on sales. Our analytics have increased by about 30% on all platforms and he wants to “fire” or get out of advertising contracts because he wants people in the doors for sales. I am having a hard time reflecting my worth

Is there a way to translate for him what that 30% improvement means? Perhaps walk him through how long these processes and things you have implemented typically take to show ROI? How is the sales team utilizing this information and how can they be an ally?

Sounds eerily familiar 🤔 Antiox makes a great point but if they're not receptive to that, move on.

If you’re generally happy in the role/company then increase communication with your boss and get clear guidelines around what results they are needing to see. Then start keeping performance records of how all efforts translate towards meeting those goals. Spreadsheets are an excellent tool when dealing with management I have found. Put things in clear statements “X marketing effort translated into X revenue, showing an increase of XX% compared to last month/quarter” so they can be quickly satisfied and you can continue on with your work.

That being said, if you’re not completely happy and feeling undervalued/underpaid/burnt out…start looking. I’ve had 4 marketing interviews in the last 10 days, the market is hot despite the recession. You would be valued elsewhere!!

Do you have any guidance on where to apply? I am looking for a remote role but I am open to 75% travel if need be. I am just hitting a brick wall

Hey everyone. I'm seeing so many people with 6-figure salaries and I'm starting to question my own for my education/experience/location. Am I right to question my salary in my situation?

I’ve already exited consulting and don’t care to go back. Have MS from a T10 relevant to my field and no plans to change industries or vertical. Mid-30s in a mid-level strategic role in F500. Not aiming for executive leadership anytime soon but want to work towards eventually. Will I have a glass ceiling in terms of professional growth and compensation without a MBA in corporate America? Would my MS and experience suffice, or do I really need the EMBA for advancement?

Majority of my department has been informed we will need to look for other positions internally due to our jobs being outsourced. The timeframe for the full transition of all work to the vendors is approximately 6 months. This is the second time in 14 months I have had to look for another position due to outsourcing of work. Since I can only work remotely for my company due to location, is it best to resign or to hold out in hopes for a transition to another department?
