lazy + smart = efficient 👌😸
It takes a long time to get coached out. Just hold out and see what happens. Or find a new job. Whatever.
Stick it out. That first manager sounds like a prick. As long as you're not an idiot (which you clearly aren't based on feedback) you will make it to senior.
You can't expect to be promoted to senior if you got dropped off of all your offices clients and aren't willing to do extra work as needed.
Fast forward 5 months I'm on a new team but I'm working with a different office because I was dropped from all my other jobs. (Other manager really was upset with me) I'm excelling and current manager is already talking about me senioring this job next year. My thing is he's from another office and probably doesn't hold much weight in me being promoted. Should I leave after busy season or just wait and see and risk being coached out?
Eh
Do you have a counselor in your own office to discuss this with? It sounds like you're a staff working directly with a manager, so maybe they're expecting more from you so they don't have to step down to do senior type work? Idk dude there is way too many variables and EY1 is correct, being coached out doesn't mean you're let go right away
Yea last manager was upset that I wasn't more willing to take on more work lol.
If you think you're going to eventually be coached out, chances are you're going to get coached out. I'd start looking
Is transferring to the office with the 2nd manager an option? It seems like a better work environment for you anyway...
Sadly it's not an option it's 4 hours away and my wife likes where we are at now. Maybe I should just jump to B4 or leave to industry
Ehhh that was overly exaggerated in my opinion. Only happened on one job and to my defense it came after an overly long busy season and I was just tired of working. Never had anyone else complain but I guess that one time did enough damage to my reputation.
If you flat out say no to extra work, you need to have a reason beyond I just don't want to do it or you're going to get the reaction you received. Even if it's "I just had a long busy season" that's fine but you need to communicate. You need to have that discussion with coach/mentor/whoever. Also, I'd phrase it "I'd prefer not to because xyz but if no one else is available, I'll try to help out."
I never turned down actual work im not crazy. I simply just didn't let her know when I was done with what I currently had to work on. I just acted busy for about an hour or two a day.
What month does BDO do promotions?
We find out in June/July
