I’m in a bit of cross roads, current employer gave me boost in my salary to keep me and competing firm is matching in base and variable comp is almost as much as salary. Thoughts?

If money weren’t an issue, which job would you prefer? It sounds like both are going to pay great. So take the one you’re going to enjoy more!

Never, ever accept a counter. As a Director, you should know this. If current firm wants you that bad, make em come get you.

@deloitte 1 - another big firm @ey2 - I wasn’t looking and had a client approach. I’ve always declined and first time I’m considering since it’s a business role vs. middle/back office.

Should I take the new role (fin tech)? Or stay and try to make MD...

Let me ask you this OP, why do you want to leave? Is it money or something else?

Great oppt to grow their business and be part of it from the ground up. That was initially it and the compensation doesn’t hurt.

As a non-director without such knowledge, why not accept a counter? You have your brand and network built at the current employer... if the move is about money (in this case you are also considering growth opps) then why not stay?

OP - what firm? Making MD at Deloitte is a shitty job. Jump if the other opportunity offers just as much money and a C-suite path

Well, I believe that if you went ahead and did your due diligence to this new opp and are OK with it, take the plunge. If you stay, you know that whatever feeling you had that made you go look for another job will return.

EY3. Why do you say that? Never accept a counter. I know that is conventional wisdom, but do you think that still holds true?

It seems many people just say no bc they think they’re worth more but I just want to take this job I hate my current one.

I'm an entry level consultant in Dallas at a smaller company. This is my first job in consulting and I've been here about 7 months. My experience has been good in terms of work life balance, autonomy, and culture. My only real issue is my compensation. I was happy with it at first, but with the workload and expectations I'm feeling undervalued. My base is 82k, 5k signing bonus, no annual bonuses or anything. Im wondering if I should start looking elsewhere or if I'm just getting greedy

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting since joining this platform. I’m interested in connecting with someone who is open to HR mentoring. I’ve been in HR now for about six years and have never had a mentor. I’ve been relying mostly on SHRM and other people in the company for feedback.
