Try to set realistic goals and push through. E.g. week 1 review resume and identify areas you’d like to improve, week 2 draft resume updates and seek input from trusted friends/ colleagues, week 3 identify potential role titles/companies/postings and refine resume, week 4 start applying… go slow and don’t be afraid to pause but won’t be afraid to make goals and prioritize sticking to them
Depression is serious. Don’t underestimate how depression affects someone. Lack of interest in preferred hobbies/tasks, confusion, intense lethargy and fatigue, suicidal thoughts, memory loss, physical complaints, etc etc- Would you consider therapy with medication until this can be resolved? Also, does depression/anxiety (depression and anxiety are known as cousins) run in your extended family? If so, this is important to share. Please take action. Do you have someone in your life that you can talk to, to help you decide what the best next steps will be for you. When depressed life, even small familiar tasks can feel overwhelming. Let someone help you with this. Do you have an EAP (employee assistance program) in your district? If so, you can start there. Good luck! You are in my prayers.

You can spend as little as 30 min a week and make progress… don’t overthink it and make it your own path
I am sorry to hear that you’re in a role that is negatively impacting your mental health. Not feeling motivated on top of that can be a tough situation. I agree with what others have said here about: 1. Consider prioritizing tending to your depression by seeking the help of a therapist 2. If you think you can muster the energy to set your sights on another job, consider hiring a coach if you want added accountability on tackling the steps required to look for a new job 3. Break things down into small steps so it doesn’t feel as overwhelming and put your blinders on as you move through them one by one. If you are in a position to quit and take the space to heal and regroup with yourself, that would be a good option to consider (though I realize not everyone feels they have the financial means to do this). You could also do research about taking a mental health leave and see if you can take space while keeping your job. Hope you find a solution that helps you make progress soon. And be soft and kind to yourself along the way.
