When is a good time to start looking to buy a house if you are currently renting? Like 1-3 months before your lease is up? My fiancé and I don’t want to rush the home buying process, but wanted to see if anyone has experienced this and their thoughts if they would have done something differently.

How do I transition from a Senior Executive Assistant role to Project Management? Ideally I would like to work in tech. How should I go about this? I currently work in the Real estate industry so it would be a totally new career path. The reason I want to move into tech is I feel like many of the companies I see have the same values as me (diversity & inclusion) and a good culture is so important to me.
hi everyone, what are some questions you normally ask your interviewer?
i’ve got a couple in mind, but just want to pick your brain and see what everyone else asks!
Natixis compensation band ?
I’m an internal consultant of a bank, a bit tired of the internal administration and bureaucracy. Just wondering if you have to deal with the same if you work in a consulting firm instead?
Happy Monday everyone! I’m looking for a referral for court administration or ACF. Any information would be awesome! Thanks!
Currently working in M&A FDD at Deloitte but have been offered a similar FDD role at PwC with a bump in comp. Thoughts on differences between the practices at the two firms and factors to consider between the two roles?
In tcs my joining date is passed still not received onboarding link.
Is it normal there because been 4 days delay still they are not giving any update.
It’s kinda hectic to call every time to recruiter and get back with the same answer like work in process.
Should I even expect the joining date?

Any sense as to whether firms will still be actively looking for 3-5th year corporate/M&A lateral associates at the beginning of 2023? Not ready to lateral from midlaw yet but will be then.
Is K&E a toxic firm? I have heard nightmare stories from current and former attorneys there.
Explain to me like I’m 5. Why does the monthly billable hours goal on things like Intellistat change month to month. I’m not hitting hours this year. Last month goal was 158. This months goal is 180.
Anyone have insight for WilmerHale?
Specifically, I'm interested in knowing:
1. The culture across the firm
2. Whether associates are (or can be) hired in offices that don't have a presence for their intended group (e.g., if I could work out of LA for the IP group, which currently does not have any attorneys in the LA office)
3. What the culture is like in the LA, SF, Palo Alto offices
4. Culture in the IP group, specifically patent prosecution
Thanks in advance!
I suck at this job. I make mistakes all the time and partners get on me about them. It’s not because I try to make mistakes but they just happen, far more frequently than I’d like. I’m a third year so I have no clue how I lasted this long to be honest. My anxiety levels are on a 10 because I’m so used to being an overachiever but my suckiness is standing out big time.
Second year lateraling to a new firm and changing practice group - do I have any ground to stand on as far as negotiating bonuses? (Signing, Covid, year end, etc.)
At what point would a firm start questioning an associate’s billable hours total? Since WFH, I’ve taken on a few doc review projects to keep hours up but I feel like some clients/peers are skeptical

so, how many firm laptops' worth of billable time would you say you waste in a given month dealing with delays caused by your firm laptop?
Anyone go from big law to small/mid and then back to big and regret the move back to big law? Maybe I’m forgetting how bad it is in big law. Someone remind me and tell me to stay put — FWIW, 5th year making $215k, 1850 hour requirement. Yes, I took a MASSIVE pay cut.
Might be landing my first referral bonus with a friend in next week or so. I really enjoyed helping my friend through the process. Feel like it is a win for him, me and the firm. The firm still has a lot of opening. How would you react to getting cold emailed by an associate offering to talk about coming to the firm?
Imagine a person lateraling into Big Law who has never had to do the billable hours previously. 1) What would be your best piece of advice? 2) What do you wish someone would have told you about billing when you started? 3) Is there maybe a book for someone entering the minefield on billing effectively and capturing time effectively? Thanks in advance!
Writing sample question:
I’m applying for an associate position at a big law firm. I graduated law school last year but immediately went in-house at a large corporation and I’m now looking to make a move to a firm setting.
In my role at the corporation, I haven’t gotten to draft anything substantial. I’ve put together a couple of memos but only one reaches 10 pages and it’s not particularly interesting. Is it bad if I use a more impressive writing sample from my 2L summer?
does anyone else feel like a failure for hating biglaw? i always thought i loved money and prestige and it turns out i like money but i don't care that much about prestige and god i hate this job.
Can someone please explain the draw to Goodwin? I’ve seen way too many posts on here with people considering offers from them. Trying to understand how it’s not a red flag that they stealthed 100 associates last year and are hiring like crazy because of that. Do your diligence!

How to tell recruiter you no longer want to go to final interview with firm? Should I just do it out of courtesy?
Does anyone feel like based on their practice area they could likely never work at a midsize firm later on and their options are mostly big law or in house? I feel like certain areas just don’t exist at midsize firms (eg, cap markets, bankruptcy, etc)

Today was my first day and I've been in a funk for the past week.
Took a month between biglaw firms and really didn’t want to go back
Everyone says they hate big law, but funny how no one wants to take a pay cut to go small law. Guess you don’t hate it that much.
