I'm in Boston for the weekend. Best seafood restaurant and best items on their menu?

Also if anyone recently saw shows, which one do you recommend? SIX, Twas the night before, Nutcracker ballet?

Shops that originated from Boston that I should visit? I'm a F 28. Thanks!

Row34 is excellent all-around. Flour remains my favorite bakery. Clover is also quite good for vegetarian fare - I love their Bridgewater

I really enjoyed SIX but I saw it on Broadway so not too sure how the Boston cast does it

like

Traveling cast is different from the mainstay Broadway cast, but they maintain the same producer, choreographer, etc., so quality is in principle the same.

Neptunes Oysters for the Lobster Roll

like

Or the uni bucatini

Best seafood? That’s easy. Legal Sea Food.

I did not catch the joke! Good to know, thanks 😊

Row 34. Charles St in Beacon Hill has a ton of local shops, and newbury st between like Exeter and Mass ave has a surprising amount of local shops

Update! I saw Twas The Night and SIX, they were amazing! Also went to Neptune, and am planning on going to Boston Sail Loft tomorrow before my flight. Thanks folks 😁

To add beyond Neptune and row34 - select oyster bar, Saltie girl. Also eventide Fenway for a more casual but very high quality experience.

Boston Sail Loft has an incredible clam chowder with a lot of dill if you’re into that. Nutcracker’s my choice

like

Looove Sail Loft and the chowder! Lots of dill but I like it

I love going somewhere japanese for seafood so not sure if you mean like italian, seafood towers, …etc. Love Zuma for miso black cod and tuna tartare, all of their food is phenomenal. If you’re thinking more american seafood tbh i’d go to saltie girl, Altlantico for latin/spanish (great atmosphere here), or Mare. Ruka is great for more asian/peruvian fusion seafood dishes, very very good food too

in terms of shops, there’s LIT boutique which has cute clothes from higher end brands. It’s hit or miss but there’s 2 locations in boston

i’ve been obsessed with it for so long. Great apps, foods, drinks, desserts, atmosphere

27M weighing in:

Laugh Boston is great if you like comedy, and the Seaport neighborhood has some easily accessible nightlife for pre/post show. Also Comedy connection (I think that’s the name) in the North End usually has improv shows every weekend which are affordable and fun. Fantastic food in that neighborhood, can hardly go wrong.

Personally not a big “go out and get seafood” fan as it’s so easy to buy fresh fish and cook at home. Although if you like sushi, RUKA is a fantastic Peruvian-fusion restaurant that does wildly different sushi styles. For more traditional but “boutique” sushi, Laughing Monk is bar none. Around the corner from RUKA is a sister restaurant called Yvonne’s which is definitely worth visiting if for nothing other than a late night drink. This is the Theater District so there’s plenty of show venues here too if you like theater.

BSO is one of my favorite things to do in the city. If you like classical music I highly recommend trying to see a concert. Beehive also has a nice atmosphere and live jazz if that’s your thing. Carrie Nation Cocktail bar sometimes has cocktail-jazz bands, although late night on weekends recently it seems to be cover bands.

FWIW, 10/10 recommend avoiding at all costs Southie unless you dig “stuck in college” frat scenes.

comedy collection lmao, Improv Asylum!!

Best seafood and items:

Saltie girl - Lobster roll, scallop crudo w/ caviar
Row 34 - oysters, whole roasted fish, lobster roll

Select Oyster Bar

I saw Twas the Night Before last night and enjoyed it. The theater is small so don’t waste your $$ sitting up front

Are you still in town Op?

funny

It’s not seafood but Lolita (Seaport) truly deserves a visit if you’re into elevated Mexican food! And for entertainment I would say Nutcracker 🎄🩰

I got passed over for a promotion to manager at a company I've been with for 9 years. They claim it's because I don't have enough sales experience, yet the 2 people they promoted to the role were doing the same thing as me beforehand. In fact, 1 of the people was just given the role and didn't have to go through the 5 interviews the rest of us had to endure. I'm debating whether I should stick around and see if some other manager role opens up or plan my way out of there.
