Has anyone had issues with hiring department? I applied to a IT position, passed the interview and they gave me a start date and salary. I was very happy and can’t wait to start but then… my recruiter told me that we have to delay the start date because my badge has not been created yet. Then it has been 4 weeks later and they say they are very sorry for the wait and they increased my pay up significantly to help compensate for the lost days. If you are not going to law school or thinking about it. Is it a purpose of staying as a paralegal throughout your career? I mean there is no any other higher up movement other than a senior or managing paralegal.

Of the many binders you have made in your career, what percentage of those binders do you think were actually used? I do a lot of trial prep and I'd say most of the binders I prepare don't even get opened up, even it's just to see if there are actually printed papers in there.

Is it appropriate to follow up after interviews to ask why you were not selected? And/or ask for feedback so that you can develop and improve professionally?

I've had SEVERAL interviews since February, and I keep getting rejected and it's starting to leave me feeling discouraged. I've been in my current position for just over 3 years and in the industry for around 4 years and have a bachelor's in Legal Studies. The positions I've applied to all vary in nature.

How do you deal with inexperienced attorneys misguiding you or telling you to do things that are not correct? I’m helping out the Florida office (I’m in Ga) and I’m less familiar with their rules. I really want her to go ask someone what the correct steps are.

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

For those of you who have been formally given the title of “senior paralegal” what are the qualifications for that title at your firm? Does your firm do promotions from paralegal to senior paralegal? At my firm we are all simply just “paralegal” (we all fully handle our own dockets, no assistants) and I would like to help develop a concrete career track for paralegal to senior paralegal.
