I’m in my 3rd Quarter as an SDR and we’re paid on meetings booked. All Qs in 2021 and Q1 ‘22 goal were 21/Q… Q2 increased to 35 (with 0 evidence that we could hit this number)… no one hit it but we still did our best Q yet.

We’re < 1 week from the end of Q3. Our goal was 35, but as of 2 weeks ago they told us it has changed. They did not tell us how it changed, just that it had. They still have not given us our commission structure. We don’t know how we’re being paid this quarter.

It kind of sucks, but welcome to sales. Ever changing comp plans and quota increases is kinda part of the game.


Agreed, I think it's worth flagging if you can...but unfortunately, I see this happen a lot

It's definitely unethical in my opinion. There's so much gray area in sales and every company operates differently, so it's hard to speak to what's really going on. But if it feels shady, it probably is.


That sounds very unethical. They need to let you know what the structure is so that you know what you are being paid. That sounds so sketchy to me. I wouldn't want to continue to work there if that were me.

Seems like your company still needs to improve its management. There's no structure at all. Things like goals should be communicated to employees beforehand.

I have been with my company 20+ years. This past year they did a sales market restructure - directions from new upper management. The restructure has been less than favorable toward my commission goals. The coming years don’t look promising. There are sales people making $$$ only here 1-2 years because they were given all my opportunities. It is hard to leave this company - it has been great until now with the changes. I have a very strong job offer elsewhere - but worried about non compete.


Tech companies are mostly built up of 22ish-40ish year olds (not data, just how it feels) which makes sense as tech has been booming for only 20ish years. What happens in the next 10-20 years when the ones who are older for tech now, become actually old for the workforce. Do we get phased out by young people due to lack of relevancy? Or will we have 50-60 year old SAAS sales people, project managers, etc, still in the space and about to retire?

I’m looking for some advice on the best companies to apply to as an AE/ Account Manager new to the North American market! The majority of the positions that I have previously worked are combined closer and customer service positions, completing end-to-end sales including the hunt, the close and the retention process!

Was just let go today due to performance. They said it was because I didn't close a sale in 4 months. Gartner I’m currently interviewing for an AE (conferences) position and was curious to hear from some people within on how many people hit their quota, how attainable it is to blow it out and just some inside info on what day to day is like in a position like this. Also coming from someone with no outside sales face to face experience I was curious what it’s like making that transition.
