Why is 251 days too short of a time to find a new job? Seems like plenty of time to start interviewing now for jobs in the city you want. Hell, they might even offer you a relocation package.

Where do I find short term work opportunities?

Many have told me to get a job and then bounce after eight months. I believe that’s a short term solution but especially with the internet connecting the world it would be unfortunate to have former teammates & bosses holding grudges against you since you didn’t stick it out at least a year. I feel that way against one of my former colleagues who was doing well to start and then left after three months. Sure he sold his startup and made $$$ but he let the team down.

I received a verbal job offer last week but my manager is giving the hiring manager second thoughts about formally offering a job. There was an issue end of June where my manager wanted to fire me claiming I did something wrong. I asked for examples and he declined to provide them. I went to HR because of that. I said I did not want to get fired, I did not want corrective action and needed opportunity to apply and transfer to other roles. In my current company… (Continued below in comments).

So, I got the job - a formal written offer was made today @ $10k under the company’s “target” base pay. I have been told that the offer that has been made is the best and highest available based on my experience (ideally company would have wanted a few more years).

It really sounds like there’s no room for negotiation but I want to try - do I say that I need $5k-$10k more otherwise I will be unable to accept or do I just accept the very generous offer on the table?

Advice please…
